Looking for a store that sells drawing supplies (pencils, charcoals, etc). Please don't tell me to go to Wal-Mart, they're useless. Is there anything or do I have to make a trip to Murray?

I am an artist... paintings using acrylic.

There is nothing in Paris so I go to Hobby Lobby in Jackson, but if you go there remember they are closed on Sunday. Believe there is one in Clarksville, but I like the Hobby Lobby on Vann Drive in Jackson or art stores in Memphis when I go there.

The book store on the Murray campus is closer, but I still prefer Hobby Lobby.

Alright, I appreciate it. Jackson's a bit far off but I'll be sure and stop by Hobby Lobby next time I'm there. Would be nice if you could actually buy things in Paris instead of being forced to go out of town constantly. I guess the Chamber doesn't want our dollars.

To "Skeeter" As much as I appreciated your wanting to buy art supplies in Paris... so would I, but the Chamber of Commerce has nothing to do with art supplies in Paris.

Art supplies are a very limited and special item and for a store to stock these supplies for only a few is not what they can do. And I agree!!!

It would be nice to buy these things in Paris, but this time the "market" will not support it... even at Walmart. The Walmart in Murray might, because the art students at the college, but the book store is their still best option.

The Chamber can't demand a store to sell something it can't support.

I went to college and to art school at MSU, but I still go to Hobby Lobby in Jackson. I too don't like the long trip, but it's not likely to change.

But, again the Chamber is not at fault.

Except that there used to be an art store right on the court square. It was there for years.

And yes, as long as the Chamber and our beloved monkeys that run the town continue to cater to only retirees and the infirm, Paris won't have anything worth a damn.

Where and when was this art store on the court square? Your key words were "was on the court square" So, why did it close???

If any business sees the need they will come to Paris if they choose to do so. However, I do agree that the chamber and city fathers could do more to attract business, but I don't see where they would discourage any business from coming to Paris.

If you can give me an example with name of company or business and date I will confront (if I believe it to be true) our local officials and I will discuss it with the chamber... but you have to give me credible information before I will stick my neck out.

MSU book store carries a lot of art supplies. Amazon.com is hard to beat too.

I shop online often, and did check Amazon and ebay as well, but sometimes you want to browse in person, you know? I'm sure I'll find what I'm looking for at the MSU bookstore. Thanks.:)

Have you checked the teachers supply store behind Trolingers on Lakeway Circle? They may have art supplies. Not sure but worth a shot.

Why are you always making blind assumptions about people you've never met?
