I've always heard there is a cave system running under our downtown. Does anyone know any information on these caves or where they can be accessed? I've often heard one of the entrances is at the YMCA but I'm not sure if that's valid or not.

I've tried Google but come up with nothing.

I have heard about it too. I was told that when the Water Dept. would do digs there were actual streams under Main Street.
I was also told this when The City was doing the Renissance Project downtown.

I always heard that there was a large one under williamsburg terrace apts, described as an underground lake. I have no proof, this is just what I've heard, and that the entrance was on one of the srrounding farms. I have also heard that they hit one of these underground rivers at the rock quarry, and it filled up over night.

Yes there are caves. There is one under my mom's yard on High Street. When they re-did the sewer lines several years ago, they collapsed into the cave.

Paris is a cave. We actually live in a cave and don't know it. The whole world is a cave and we are bats.

I have heard there is an entrance on main street close to akemans barber shop. it is a metal door with a lock on it. i assume there is a ladder or steps, the best way to find out is to go to the courthouse or ask someone who works for the city they are the only one with acess to these doors. If anyone knows for a fact I would love to know. I have been in the rock quary in paris and if they are anything like that then it would be cool so see them, if your into weird things like me quarys huge bodies of water cave ect.

The old quary that filled up with water is located behind the county road department on main street.. You can walk back there... The stories i've heard was that the workers barely made it out

I thought the quary was out behind the fire dept off of the bypass, near the old walmart? Can you see it from the road? I'm not from Paris, only lived here a few years. I've never been out there.
