Paris Youth Soccer Association (“PYSA”) is holding tryouts for the PYSA SELECT SOCCER PROGRAM. New girls and boys teams are being formed and existing teams are filling openings. Please make plans to attend the tryouts.

WHAT IS THE PYSA SELECT SOCCER PROGRAM?
The PYSA Select Soccer Program is a community based, competitive select soccer program hosted by the Paris/Bourbon County YMCA. Playing on a PYSA Select Soccer team is a full year commitment with the guidance of professional, licensed, paid coaches. Our coaches focus on advanced player development and our teams offer a higher level of competitive play. PYSA Select Soccer Program players practice at least twice per week for 1½- 2 hours each, play in 1-2 games per week (on weekends) and play in 2-5 tournaments per year.

WHAT AGES CAN PLAY?
Teams are formed based on the player’s age as of August 1, 2009. The turnout and the skill level of the players at tryouts will determine the actual number of boys and girls PYSA Select Soccer teams that are formed. Teams will be formed based on players chosen at tryouts.

You are quite welcome. My hope is that we get A LOT of players form Paris/Bourbon County and Harrison, Nicholas, Clark, Scott, etc. to show up at the PYSA select tryouts and help our select soccer program grow as the programs in the surrounding counties have grown.

We have a great group of people (paid and volunteers) willing to make this work. We just need the kids!!!!!

My daughter has played for one of the selet teams for 2 years, I would be so excited to see this program grow.

As for experience bascially these are all young teams if your sons shows that he can learn and has the abiltiy to play, have him come out and give it a try.

Experience helps. But being athletic, running fast and being coachable are as important. Please try out. Coaches will make the decisions, but they need NUMBERS.

I noticed that PYSA tryouts are AFTER Lexington Futbol Club tryouts. That was GREAT idea. I hope you get a great turnout!!!!

I have noticed that there is no U12 boys team....is there a reason y? My son wanted to try out last year and because of the age and no U12 team being offered he couldn't...same thing this year.

My understanding is that the current boys coach had a U10 team last year and thsoe boys will move up to U11. There is interest for a select Boys Select U14, U16 and U17.

A lot of kids "play up" - what grade will he be in the fall? He could possibly play U14???

We are in the process of supplying the local elementary and middle schools with 1,800 flyers to pass out at schools. The flyers have been approved by the school superintendent.

Select Teams will be formed based on the number of kids that show up for tryouts and on their skill level. So, encourage your son to try out.

There are several interested in coaching and coaching applications are being accepted. Licensed Coaches are preferred. Coaches will be required to have their license before the fall.

Is this through the YMCA? I called there this morning just to verify this information and the person working didn't know what I was talking about (not that that is anything unusual from them, I was just wondering.) And do you know the cost? Do you pay at registration time or when they actually make the team?

The PYSA select soccer program is "hosted" by the YMCA, but PYSA is a separate organization. The Paris/Bourbon County YMCA is supposed to be posting a link from their website regarding the tryout flyer that has been prepared.

If you call the YMCA again, you could leave a message for John Duvall to call you. I can’t post phone numbers on this website. He is the person you would need to speak to with if you have specific questions. But, No money would be due at tryouts. An ad will be in the local newspaper soon and flyers will be going home to the kids from school.

PYSA Select Soccer team fees will vary by team, but fees are approximately $600 per player, per year ($250-300 per season). This fee includes coaching fees, uniform costs, tournament fees and indoor fees.$140 will be payable to the YMCA for the PYSA Select Soccer Program registration fees upon making a specific select team. Also, please note that total fees will vary, depending on the tournaments the teams choose to attend and coaching expenses.

The way this usually works is after your child makes the team a parent meeting is held and payment schedules/arrangements are discussed. A team coordinator is appointed as well as a team treasurer.

OK. Well, check the YMCA for a link to the flyer. Also, watch the newspaper and check with your child for flyer from school (hopefully in the next week or so).
