I'm not going to fight with you on this thread. I do enjoy fighting with you though. The fact that you are such a gutless idiot makes me feel much better about me. All I ask is that you give these people the same respect you accused me of not giving and don't bring that to this thread.

you hit it on point, the judge ordered that. If people go on their own, it is different. Trust me I know about this being a touchy subject, as I stated in a previous post, I have watched my mother deal with addiction for about 15 years now. I have been there for court ordered treatment to voluntary treatment. I know how this works. And your question of do they care about family or the drugs, it seems that simple to non addicts but it isn't that simple to addicts. They love their family but the drugs have an unbelievable hold on them. I have struggled with that concept so much.

I'd just like to thank AA & NA for 2 1/2 years clean and the best friends and life any 28 year old could imagine! I couldn't have gotten or STAYED clean if it wasn't for this program... cause I'd tried everything else. Hope everyone has a fabulous day!

YEAH RIGHT!!!!!! This must be the new front now! Because I've had so many pillheads say the same exact thing as you just said and minutes later they're on pills. YOU all just want it to sound like you're clean but what this really means is you're as doped up as you were before you attended the NA meeting. What? Are you clean because you are on Methadone or Suboxene? WOW! Still a pill baby, still a pill......

I can't tell you how much I would love to a druggie, but I have had my wallet stolen several times in the past few months (many times just before drug days) I am sure there are many older men who are vulnerable to this scam.
Women often receive warnings about protecting themselves at the mall and in
dark parking lots, etc. This is the first warning I have seen for men. I
wanted to pass it on in case you haven't heard about it.
A 'heads up' for those men who may be regular customers at Lowe's, Home Depot, Costco, or even Wal-Mart. This one caught me totally by surprise.
Over the last month I became a victim of a clever scam while out shopping. Simply going out to get supplies has turned out to be quite traumatic. Don't be naive enough to think it couldn't happen to you or your friends.
Here's how the scam works:
Two nice-looking, college-aged girls will come over to your car or truck as you are packing your purchases into your vehicle. They both start wiping your windshield with a rag and Windex, with their breasts almost falling out of their skimpy T-shirts.(It's impossible not to look).
When you thank them and offer them a tip, they say 'No' but instead ask for a ride to McDonald's.
You agree and they climb into the vehicle. On the way, they start
undressing. Then one of them starts crawling all over you, while the other
one steals your wallet.
I had my wallet stolen June. 4th, 9th, 10th, twice on the 15th, 17th, 20th, 24th, & 29th. Also July. 1st & 4th, twice on the 8th, 16th, 23rd, 26th & 27th, and very likely again this upcoming weekend.
So tell your friends to be careful. What a horrible way to take advantage of us older men. Warn your friends to be vigilant.
Wal-Mart has wallets on sale for $2.99 each. I found even cheaper ones for $.99 at the dollar store and bought them out in three of their stores.
Also, you never get to eat at McDonald's. I've already lost 11 pounds just running back and forth from Lowe's, to Home Depot, to Costco, Etc.
So please, tell all the older men that you know and warn them to be on the lookout for this scam.(The best times are just before lunch and around 4:30 in the afternoon.)

Are the NA meeting still going on? If so where? I know they said bridges and communities by the court house. That hasn't been there for months. I also know that Ginger isn't working there anymore. So who do I get in touch with to see if I can come to a meeting. I am NOT a drug user but have someone near and dear to me who is.

a lot of na meetings also coincide with aa meetings here in paris, there are plenty of addicts as well as alcoholics in each meeting, i know there are some at the church by fire department behind court house... maybe they could point you in right direction from there.

If you are in more pain than Tylenol can control and doc gives you a script based on your pain level, and if you take it accordingly you will not become addicted. Pain meds taken for pain will help but when you are taking pain meds and you are not in pain then the meds will work on you differently then on someone that is taking them for what they are for and you will become addicted. Plain and simple.

Addiction is a disease.
And it is so easy to sit back and judge when you haven't experienced the disease.
I use to do the same thing until I saw it happen to family members and just people I know.
I will would never ever again judge.
The addict will have to hit rock bottom before they realize what they have done, because the addiction takes over their life, and they don't realize who they are hurting.

No one wakes up one day and says HEY I think I will go get me some oxy-codone and snort them up today!

Do some homework on this, you will find out that people that try to take themselves off pain medicine can't do it. The brain tells your body you are in pain, the pain medicine is wrapped around your central nervous system, the muscle cramps and withdrawls are something you don't understand unless you have seen it or gone through it.

Addicts come in many shapes sizes and classes. Soccer moms, executives, housewives, etc... It's a very bad problem, and if you have the genetics to be an addict and you have had to take Lortab, Oxycodone, Percocets, etc... you are going to have a problem.

And for those that put down pill addicts, and think they can smoke weed and that is okay? You are wrong, drugs are drugs!

What about alcholics? Is that not a disease?

The best and safe way is to never start, you have the choice in some cases to never take that first pill or that first drink or that first smoke. But for people that have been prescribed pain meds and can't get off, is a very sad story. And for those that make that choice to just do drugs for recreation, you become a slave to the habit.

I am very glad there are things like AA and NA. They can draw strenght from one another and look for another source for some type of spiritual guidance. I am a Christian, and I will say this, he who is without sin, let him cast the first stone. Don't hate the sinner, hate the sin.

Bottom line is, our Govt. is not touching the pain pill problem in our country, they are too worried about passing healthcare for birth control and making us have to depend on electric cars, they sit up in D.C. and allow the pharmaceutical companies to market it and don't think for one minute the lobbyist are getting their pockets padded for it!
So it's not just the "pill mills" and "pill billies" making money.
Watch the news closely on this... You close one pill mill, the next day a new one opens.

Oh and yes, I was robbed by an addict. And yes I forgave that person, so that person could work towards forgiving themself, and to seek the help they need.

WOW!You are exactly right we don't want you to attend our meetings, NA or AA, because we are family in those rooms and we go there to find support to keep us sober and clean. Some are court mandated, and accidentally catch on, like myself fortunately. Addiction is not prejudiced! It can hook anyone. I am very sorry to hear how addiction effected you but please remember when your time comes you will be the only one before God answering for YOUR life on earth.
