and the really bad thing is the digital they are using is latest and greatest on the market, no scanner in the world available yet to break the encryption but,,, the people who build the scanner that Radio Shack sells, and another company RGE are on the cutting edge of this and will have one (expensive) on the market by the first of the year.

Good luck trying to pick it up ever, not only is it digital but encrypted. No more listening in on the police.

That is good. People to mind their own business and quit sitting around listening to the scanner. Get a life and don't worry about everyone else.

Technically it is a matter of public record, just like the arrests and court findings they publish in the newspaper.

yes but why dont people find something to do instead of sitting around listening to the scanner. Many people in Paris use this as a way to tell everyone's business.

People like myself listen to the scanner because Police often broadcast to "scanner land" about road conditions, public safety, and to keep citizens aware of potential dangerous situations if they are looking for someone in a certain location. The scanner "was" very beneficial to us all......

If your scanner is digital you will not have a problem. They are broadcasting on air waves and no they are not encrypted. Just thought you might like the info. As the other person said it is all public record sooner or later whether you like it or not.

Take it from someone who talks on the radios everyday... you will need the encryption that is on our digital radios to be able to listen to them... Secondly the radio logs are not public record... There's important information that is passed on the radios on a daily basis that consist of private / confidential information... I'd like to see a piece of paper that would allow the average citizen to view or hear the radio logs just because...

You have a scanner that is hearing them? The encryption code they are using is still in beta test mode. Only Paris and a couple other cities in the the eastern US are using this. Do tell us more about your scanner.

I myself have considered getting a police scanner. Not because of any sinister reasons, I am not part of a "militia" or anything. I am just a concerned individual. I see the "police state" that is growing and it concerns me greatly. I think there has been a growing distance between the public and our law enforcers. Communication is the key. "We the people" are not terrorist. We are not sheeple. We are individuals trying to live by a constitution laid down by our forefathers, who warned us of the very situation that we find ourselves. "We the people" allow you to be in the positions of power that you have. You are public servants that have sworn to protect and serve the public. Protect and serve.

There is no way to get the codes for scanners for Bourbon County. None. At all. That's why they changed the system. And if you're caught trying to break the encrypted codes you can go to jail. We have checked with everybody available, and that's the same answer from everywhere.

Either you are the most brilliant ham op ever, or you are simply a liar who has no idea what an Icom or ham is. Which is it?

You too are wrong, Paris digital is encrypted, and even as of now there are zero scanners on the open or black market that will decode. It just aint so.
