In the past years I have purchased many items from Buds including a very large Gun Safe. In the past 6 months however I have found that the friendly gun store where I used to shop is no more. The sales people are downright hateful and you certainly should never bring a trade in there. I brought a brand new gun in that had never been fired and they offered me 25% of the price they were selling the same gun for. I was trading towards a firearm that cost 5 times more.
Shop at Classic Firearms or Evans firearms both on Southland drive, you will drive away with more in your wallet. The Gun site on Nicholasville rd. will treat you better than anyone, but there inventory is limited.

50BMG, I SEE PEOPLE LIKE YOU EVERYDAY AT BUDS, YOU COME IN WHEN THE SHOP IS FULL OF CUSTOMERS AND WANT THE SALES PEOPLE TO DROP EVERYTHING AND ANSWER ALL YOUR QUESTIONS, IS THIS AGOOD GUN, DOES IT WORK, HOW DOES IT COMPARE TO THIS GUNS, WHICH ONE WOULD YOU BUY, ALL YOUR DOING IS TAKING UP SOMEBDYS TIME AND MOST TIMES YOU WALKOUT SHAKING YOUR HEAD. AS FOR YOUR TRADE-IN, YOU BOUGHT IT SOMEWHERE ELSE FOR TOO MUCH MONEY, OR YOU BEING A RESIDENT EXPERT ON GUNS THOUGHT YOU HAD SOMETHING, WHEN YOU HAD NOTHING,OR FROM YOUR NAME YOUR ONE OF THE BLACK GUN OWNERS THAT BOUGHT SOMETHING VERY FEW PEOPLE WANT, DON'T GET ME BLACK GUNNERS ARE GOOD PEOPLE, BUT THOSE GUNS AREN'T FOR EVERYONE SO ENJOY THE GUN SHOPS IN LEXINGTON AND DO US THE HONOR OF NOT BOTHERING THE NOT SO FRIENDLY SALES PEOPLE.

IT IS SO FREAKING CRAZY THAT YOU PEOPLE SIT AT YOUR COMPUTERS AND TALK CRAP ABOUT EVRYONE ELSE AND HAVE NOTHING BETTER TO DO WITH YOUR TIME. I KNOW THIS BUISNESS PRETTY WELL AND YOU PEOPLE ARE SO WRONG! 1ST OFF, NONE OF THE GIRLS AT BUDS ARE WHORES. I COULD SEE WHY SOMEONE ELSE WOULD WRITE THAT. THEY ARE VERY BEAUTIFUL AND SMART. I THINK WHOEVER DID IS JUST JEALOUS!!! LOL! 2ND THE EMPLOYEES ARE VERY RESPECTFUL AND NICE, I THINK THEIR JUST TIRED OF DEALING WITH STUPID CUSTOMERS. I'VE BEEN IN THEIR AND SEEN PLENTY OF GROWN MEN HANDLE SEMI AUTOMATIC HAND GUNS NOT KNOWING WHAT THE MANUFACTURER, MODEL OR CALIBER THE GUN WAS, NOT MAKING FUN OF THEM BUT THE EMPLOYEES ARE VERY PATIENT AND HELPFUL! I WOULD LOVE TO SEE KARMA SLAP WHOEVER INVENTED THIS WEBSITE RIGHT IN THE FACE.

If you hate this website Kimber, then why are you USING it? You certainly have no problem with it when you want to express YOUR opinion, but you seem to have little or no tolerance for other people's opinions. In all seriousness, I went to Bud's one time and I admit I am a novice when it comes to guns, if even a novice. But when I went in Bud's to get a little informed, I got the distinct impression that I was a bother. Just like Dinosaur says, who probably works at Bud's, I felt like they didn't want to waste their time explaining anything to me. It seemed to me that if I didn't already have some kind of knowledge about guns then I had no business being in there. Do you all agree with this attitude? I mean really, where better to get firearms education than at a firearms dealer? But the good ole boys around these parts look down at a guy who has never shot a gun. Buying your first gun is already a different experience that puts you out of your element whatever that may be, I don't need some pistol packin' bumpkin belittling me because I don't know much about guns.

Also, I forgot to mention; has anyone ever heard the commercial for Bud's on the radio? It amkes no mention of Paris, instead it says Bud's is located "just 15 minutes outside Lexington" It seems that Bud thinks it will hurt his business if he admits he is located IN Paris and not just "outside Lexington". Come on Bud, we here in Paris aren't so bad.

PARTY AT BUD'S, I DON'T WORK FOR BUD. I'VE SEEN THE SALESPEOPLE AT BUD'S SPEND 2 TO 3 HOURS EXPLAINING THINGS TO PEOPLE, BUT WHEN YOU HAVE A STORE FULL OF PEOPLE, YOU CAN'T SPEND THAT MUCH TIME ON ONE PERSON. COME IN WHEN THE STORE ISN'T FULL OF PEOPLE AND THEY'LL SPEND THE TIME TO ANSWER YOU QUESTIONS. THEY ALSO OFFER CLASS ON BASIC FIREARMS INSTRUCTION, CHECK THE BOARD WHEN YOU COME IN THE DOOR. AS FOR THE COMMERCIAL, THE FOLKS IN PARIS SUPPORT BUD'S REALLY WELL, BUT MOST OF BUD'S CUSTOMER COME FROM OTHER TOWNS AND LEXINGTON IS THE TOWN THAT THEY USE AS A REFERENCE POINT. HAVE A GOOD DAY AND VISIT BUD'S GUN SHOP.

I didn't say that I hate this website at all. Pay a little closer attention to what you read and write. I said that it was crazy that you people sit at your computers and talk crap about other people and have nothing better to do with your time. I also said that I would love to see karma slap whoever invented this website right in the face. I think this website would be alot better if people had positive things to write! As for you being a novice which is a beginner or inexperienced person, I'm sure that the employees would take their time to show you how to use a gun. You can go in and rent a range gun, have the range manager show you how to use it and teach you about what your using.

Wow, this croud can get hostile. NIce post Blackgubs. I will not target anyone however I have spent a lifetime around weapons with 21 years in the army as part of that. I have met many others who have been around guns for years. One thing I can say all of us veterans agree on in that you can never pull a round back once it has been fired. At a range that responsibility not only falls on the folks with the weapons, it is in part the responsibility of the range staff. They have rules, and they have the range. If either do not make you happy, smile and leave. I will end this with one more note. I have met many who claim to be experts.......well lets just leave it there.

I expect I go to Bud's range once a week. It is not cheap. $10 per 30 minutes. $15 for 2 on the same firing position also 30 minutes. BUT,that is the price of the hobby. The employees are always courteous to me and whomever I happen to have meet with me there for a little range practice. I have observed a lot of things on that range, but NEVER has anyone interrupted my session. Unless you were doing something really wrong, I can not judge, wasn't there. I share all your stated qualifications and have a couple more of my own as far as firearm handling and safety. That doesn't allow me to improperly use the range or disregard any store rules. I am sorry you had a perceived bad experience. You should of discussed this with the owner or store manager. I recommend you give it another chance with a totally different attitude. I know, I have the same things happen to me and react irrational. If you really enjoy firearms, don't give up that easily.

I to have had problems with buds gun shop. I live near there and purchased over 2000 dollars worth of guns within two weeks. I go back to look at guns and get some kind of and attitude from a fat guy with the name of J---. I wrote them an email about this and they wrote me back telling me sorry. Then they turned around and I guess forward it to somebody telling them that I was crazy and stupid and I was an F----- idiot. I wrote them back asking what that email was about. There response was we didn't mean to send that to you. So as far as I can say like the guns I have got there but will not buy anymore there.

Not only have people here claimed that Bud's has terrible service from young punk macho shitheads that work there, you have a couple of guys who work there posting on here with those same exact terrible attitudes people are complaining about. It reinforces those complaints.

lol. I wonder how much good business has walked out the door because of that?

Ive never used the range at Bud's (I belong to BGSL) and they are a bit expensive for my tastes, but I digress. I am not sure what rules were a problem if any. Seems to me the OP got rubbed the wrong way by someone standing over their shoulder which could cause you to get nervous and do something wrong in itself. I also believe the OP was just incredibly agitated when they posted so their post is full of emotion, not objective detachment (IE a rant).

As far as stores go, I have ZERO problems from Buds. I had some crazy issue with buyin a gun from them a few months back (almost a year now). After that was all said and done, the folks there still treated me like a valued customer after alot of turmoil (from both sides).
Would I buy from them again... YES! They ahve good prices and I have yet to be treated "rudely".

Classic Arms is also a good shop. Good customer service and un pressured sales. The old guys are the best tho, the young-ins tend to be cliquey and not as helpful from my experience.

Antique is pretty good, nice guys and good prices. Just dont take a Excellent or LNIB gun there and expect ANY kind of money, they buy very very low.

Gun Site, nice guy, never bought any thing tho.

Evans, is so so. Lately Ive had a good experience, but about 4 years ago I had a bad one. Evan himself couldnt tear himself away from a gun he just bought off some guy to help me while all his other guys were busy. I had cash in hand for a NIB HK USP and I got the feeling he didnt really want to sell to me at the moment. If someon else in town had it at that moment I would have bought it from them for more money due to that attitude. Last few weeks Ive been in twice and they have been really pleasant (probably due to increased sales due to election).

I guess thats it.

BTW, anyone know what hurdles there are to open a range in Lexington? Paris and Wilmore are long drives. Seems like a nice indoor range here could do well, especially due to winters.

I went to Buds one night after work. It took me almost an hour and a half to get there because of traffic. When I walked in the door, it was shut and locked behind me. I asked if it was ok for me to go ahead and shop, and they said it was fine. I had a few questions about the gun I was looking at, and accessories for it. They answered all of my questions, and gave me no attitude while doing it. They stayed almost an extra hour working with me until I finally found the gun I wanted. I have no problems with Buds. As far as I'm concerned, they get an A+ for customer service in my book. I have referred them to guys I work with, and I will always go back to Buds for the way they treated me. As far as Buds range, I have no input on that. I fire my guns when I go to Ohio at my buddies range there.

I bought an 870 for Maryland turkey hunting from Bud's a few months ago - I buy all sorts of work related parts and equipment online, many that have to be shipped to third party locations, so I deal with customer service and fulfillment folks on almost a daily basis. The people at Bud's were helpful, patient in answering my questions - I had 3 or 4 telephone conversations with them related to the shipping of the gun. The price was the lowest I could find anywhere, they did exactly what they said they were going to do, and they expedited my delivery a little so I could get out in the field and hunt. I really have to give them an A+ for the overall quality of service experience, and that's not something I often say.
