Lets debate this. Ok?
New Guns laws OR less restrictions?

Concealed Weapon Permits in Illinois?
Would a new CWP law help Us protect us ALL?

Yes!

Many of these killings have been by young troubled males. Banning guns only treats the symptom and not the disease. Parents of kids like this, should not have weapons available to them. Why make it easy. The woman in CT knew her son was troubled but yet she taught him to shoot a weapon and had them in the house. Seems extremely dumb to me.

You cannot stop every bad situation from happening. You can try your best and try to be smart but sometimes, bad s@%t WILL happen.

Should citizens of this community of ours, who have NON VIOLENT mental health disorders like Bipolar disorders or depression be allowed to purchase(with a FOID card) LEGALLY ANY firearm they choose?

What if they COMMITTED or ADMITTED THEMSELVES to hospital for treatment VOLUNTARY(not involuntarily)for those same type NON VIOLENT mental health disorders..should they STILL be allowed the same freedoms as any other American citizen to safely and responsibly and legally(FOID card) own a firearm?

BiPolar, in a manic state, can most certainly be violent.

Not true..most people who are bipolar and in a manic state are NOT violent. They just have excessive energy. You might wanna Google that or talk to a doctor about that false claim. Now, its possible to experience some violent behavior from a person suffering from some types of schizophrenia disorder..but then again that would depend on the persons history of violence and the circumstances they've experienced..not all them from that disorder are violent. In general MOST people who suffer from ANY type of mental health disorders are NOT violent. The problems arises from other issues, NOT VIOLENT behavior. Or ownership of firearms or the use if them. I was in the armed forces..and never had any restriction placed on my use of firearms for any reason. My security clearance was and still is good to this day. My history speaks for itself. In NOT violent. And im BIPOLAR..they say. Im not really into assigning labels for anything..or anyone. Its creates separation, not unity with your fellow human beings in this world.

You should not fear us..or them. If you do..that may mean your paranoid and suffering from some type of mental health disorder yourself..or your buying into the fear the government is spreading currently and that some people naturally are now experiencing FEAR and growing more fearful because of this cycle of school shootings in our violent history in this nation.

Consider this national discussion the country is having bout mental health and violent behavior is based on fear of the unknown, unpredictable behavior of those they don't understand or are different from their life experiences.

My opinion is guns don’t kill people. And more than mental health issues, I think drugs probably play a much bigger part of violence than anything. With drugs and alcohol, someone could run a can through a crowed intersection of pedestrians. We don’t ban cars.

I hate to comment on a serious thread because now I will get BFGAY & the purple chicken following me around like a couple of smitten school girls but here goes......First thank you CU for an intelligent statement on gun control. From the reports I have heard the MURDERER had a mental disorder know as Aspergers syndrome (I know NOTHING about what that would make him do. Please explain what it is if you could, I have heard that with aspergers syndrome he would not "plan" out a murder so I don't think that would have much to do with this case) I fell that his mother should of had the guns locked up, If she had lived thru this she would shoulder some of the blame. The gov. "grabbing guns" is not the answer, however I have no problem with a more strict back ground check & if there is a mentally unstable person in the house the guns should at the very least be locked in a safe of removed from the house all together.

Mental health treatment and some drug treatment are similar in certain ways. BUT..The person who suffers from drug addiction makes a choice to start the addiction cycle. But the person who suffers from mental health disorders does NOT choose in most cases to be affected by the production of chemicals that are imbalanced that starts the cycle for them.

I feel the pain of addicts, but they have a choice to start abusing drugs or NOT. People with mental health disorders have NO choice most the time ,if the chemicals in their body are imbalanced. Its something i wouldn't wish upon my worst enemy. I suffered from severe clinical depression several times in my life. It almost killed me many times. I survived this living nightmare and misery and pain with hard work and the help of some professionals, and medications. But meds ALONE won't solve this problem..it takes hard daily work and courage by the person and families, AND the community around them understanding their disorder and managing it the best they ALL can. Its a team effort. The patient, doctor and the therapist AND the families, friends and community SUPPORTING ALL the persons involved in mental health issues. Its complicated to treat, and some disorders have no cure..just management and continuing treatment throughout the life of the ones who SUFFER from it. Pray for us all. With Gods help we can overcome anything, im an example of redemption and relief from this type of thing called Bipolar disorder.

You should not comment on a serious thread, factless, because you can't go one post without insults. Also, no one gives a shit what you think.
