Edgar County Watchdogs Make Themselves and Edgar County Look Like Clowns

Uh-oh what happened kirk? Your buddies ed and auggie fall into one of those categories. Did you forget about those guys for some reason? I'd have to put their obscene money losses to the county and tax payers in the "wrong doing" category. Also, jeff voight don't think we don't see what you're doing either.

Yea that quote is gonna live on to haunt him. He sounds like he actually thinks he is, or is the equivalent of, an elected official. I hate to break it to him but he is as close to that as he will ever be. No shortcuts guys. Attending board meetings and speaking during the few minutes they allot the public doesn't make you a member no matter how badly you want to be one. I'm sure the revelation that he would never attain this particular status in edgar county is why he and his partners are so aggressive and one-sided in their attacks. Jealousy can be a powerful driving force. Mix that with arrogance and ignorance and you end up with an ugly mess thats no benefit to anyone.

I don't have a horse in the race but I have to say they have done numerous FOIA's to the sheriffs office and I know first hand he has buried the Clerks office with FOIA's.

When you make a claim that is false you loose all credibility.

The Chrisman tax thing was taken care of by the book and in accordance with the law. There might be a delay in getting ALL the tax money you had coming but your still getting it. I know the clerk let a person go who happen to handle those records so it would appear Augie took care of the problem?

Look at the sheriffs budget. He cam in well under budget so whats the beef?

Can the same be said about the Paris Beacon for not covering this stuff as your saying about the watchdogs?

For years most people wished someone would demand accountability in this county and now that some are finally stepping up you want to attack the fact they haven't exposed something wrong with a couple of county offices?

Isn't it just a couple guys? If you know there is a problem don't you have the courage to expose it? Running your mouth behind the scene shows what your made of.

I know the ladies we play cards with appreciate what they are doing and wish more men would grow a set.

Lady if you are ok with a few hundred thousand dollars needlessly thrown on the tax payers by just 2 guys then that must mean you are rich and don't care. If you think that the tactics of these guys is desirable and that they have actually accomplished anything productive then I feel sorry for you. Little old lady needs to get out of the house more and get informed.

[Watchdog Cronyism]

If you're not familiar with the edgar county watchdogs, they are a self-professed group of wrong righters looking out for the well being of edgar county. This county watch group,under the guise of sniffing out corruption, utilizes an array of seedy and artless tactics to "right" any wrong goings on in our elected body and its branches. They have targeted most of the branches and many of the officials with claims of corruption and illegal spending. While most of their claims never fully materialize, they continue on to their next endeavour with no admittance of their mistake or any apology to the concerned. With each accusation comes a flurry of public harassment, directly and indirectly. Even with their claims of blind justice a disturbing pattern has occurred. While most of the county body seems under their careful scrutiny, there are a few that operate very freely going unmentioned, these being the sheriff, ed motley and county controller,august griffin. The watchdogs disturbing oversight of these two individuals mistakes in office has some us scratching our heads. How can ed motley and august griffin be allowed make the mistakes they made with no mention of it by this watch group, not even a sentence on their website. In the past showing strong concern for ethical and conservative spending, it makes no logical sense that the watchdogs ignore the hundreds of thousand of dollars these 2 have cost the county. The sheriff has a large court suit against him that will cost the county dearly and the controller's paperwork error will cost the chrisman citizens dearly. These 2 officials must be providing the watchdogs with some incentive to leave them alone(considering the size of their mistakes). It has been brought to my attention that the watchdogs could be receiving inside information from these officials...some legally...some not. Is that not what the watchdogs profess to be against? Under the table dealings for favors? Make no mistake everyone, this is blatant and right in front of out faces. I don't think they are unaware of these 2 officials money problems. Don't let the watchdogs' exaggerations and theatrics distract you from very serious issues that our county is facing. At the very least I think they ought to comment on this situation. The watchdogs' attitude of do as I say and not as I do must stop.

Kirk Allen claims to have no adgenda.I have heard that this whole Watchdog thing started because the 911 board turned down a request several years ago to fund radios for Chief Allen's volunteer fire department,and this sent Mr. Allen on his current rampage.I wonder if this is true? I have no way of knowing,but I have heard this several times and wonder if it is true.If so it decimates any shred of credibility the Watchdogs may have.Have also heard our sheriff bought radios or communications equipment for his department without a bid process and denied a local company a chance for the budsiness when they inquired about supplying said equipment.I wonder also if this is true? I do not write these things to spread rumors,I write them to see if I can find someone with information to tell me if these things are true or not.I have found no other way to confirm or dismiss as wrong any of the above.Anyone?
