I am French from AGEN and was at managing the quartermaster ESSO station in Langon (from January 1955 to 1958) where the American soldiers got their gas. I married one and followed him here. He was an ammunition specialist at Captieux. Lloyd J. Montgomery working with Mr. Mc Cabe. He just past away after giving me 50 wonderful years.

The barracks Sargent ,SFC Robert Butler transfered to Donges from there. He was an old navy man. That's the only person I ever knew from Bussac. I was at Donges From Dec.1959 to June,1962 and he was there when I got there.

I am looking for students who might remeber teachers at the American School in Paris especailly 62-? and or if there was a school at Camps des Loges.

Finding some teachers is most important .
many thanks....merci mille fois.
Judy, just now poking around looking for pictures of Evreux AFB and found your post. My father was a Chaplain at Evreux around 1957-59..... Not so sure of the dates. I recall going to 8th grades at Evreux and then boarding one year at Paris American HS. Then we transferred to Orly in Paris and I bussed to the same HS for 1 year before we came back stateside. We just moved and I think I discarded my Paris HS annual but If you see this and respond I'll look again. The annual would have the teachers' names.

Bonjour Monsieur,

I lived near or in La Rochelle in about 1956 and then we moved to Poitiers for the next two years. Then in 1966, we went to Chateauroux AFB for about 6 months. I have very fond memories of my time in France and the wonderful people there. I have no pictures, just my memories.

Come to our Poitiers Group and find many photos of Poitiers, La Rochelle, and many other bases and towns in France. Poitiers is hosting a big science fiction convention in August, and I should have some pictures of that also.

I was stationed at Captieux from May 1960 through February 1962. I recall that we had Polish Army guards at Captieux and I recall going to their club on the base as they had "piwo" and kielbasa sandwiches which I enjoyed. If you would want to get in touch with me my email address is [email protected]
Do you know where I can find a birth certificate for American children whose parent was station at Camp Captieux in 1958?

PAMT had an NCO club that served enlisted as well as officers. 5-cent Heinekens and 10-cent mixed drinks. Well patronized by transient flight officers. Would like to know if anyone has knowledge of airmen stationed at PAMT during that time period. David Chismar, for one. By the way, the unit was Detachment 2300, 7025th Air Postal Group until disbanding when deGaulle kicked us out of France in 1967.
