Obama has said that we must win this war, yet his indecision on the need for more troops tells our enemies that he is not willing to do what it will take to win.

Obama's decision making on Afghanistan reminds me of the decision making during the Vietnam war. The politicians made political decisions and those decision led to the lost of will by the American people rather than a loss on the battlefield.

Obama just wants peace and love for his fellow countrymen...the muslim extremists. I would not be surprised of Obama wigged out and did the same as Nidal one day. The signs do seem to be there.

I bet you want peace and love for the abortion terrorists who attack abortion clinics under the guise of stopping the murder of unborn children.

This war was lost when Bush made the decision to attack Iraq, thereby sucking all the resources away from Afghanistan. The momentum was lost when we had both the Taliban and Al Qaida on the run, now both have had time to regroup, especially the Taliban.

Now America faces supporting another corrupt govt in a country the size of Texas. Iraq is still a drag since manpower is still in short supply. Normally I would say listen to the commander on the ground but after all these years of being their I'm not sure that's the right thing to do. Winter is approaching which in that country brings things almost to a standstill so there is no hurry since it will be Spring before any major offensive can take place anyway.

my view is to remove all troops from Afghanistan...we are wasting resources and personnel...you cannot win a war in a half ass manner..its all or nothing...we should focus on killing Ben Ladin, and let the Afghanis deal with their own Taliban issues...

Oh..and more importantly..since the Talibans main source of monies are gotten from drug dealing and drug cultivation..we should wipe out all poppy fields, and all villagers participating in the production of drugs...

Oh yeah, that's how to win the war, kill the farmers trying to make a buck. We would be called the American Taliban then.

Don't you think that our lack of resolve will encourage the enemy and result in more casualities. I can't help but compare it to Vietnam and our lack of resolve in hitting the enemy in Hanoi and Haiphong. I also think that if we abandon Afghanistan guess what will happen in Pakistan.

Your dealing with the highest mountain chain on earth. Enemy doesnt move either. Now down in the southern part of the country, the terrain is easier to negotiate so some action can continue.

Glad to see the F-22 die, not needed, waste of money.

I think the F-22 is still needed but cool.

Then no F-22's but we send in a few B-2's loaded up with some tactical nukes up to the mountains and warm the place up a bit.

The American military works on the principle of seizing the initiative. We started out doing that but Rumsfeld felt the CIA and the Northern Alliance were better at conducting the war than US soldiers thus both BinLadin and the Taliban were able to melt away. Since then we have propped up a crooked govt while the Afghan govt tries to make some progress with police, army and humanitarian efforts. Casualties have gone up because Obama did add troops in the Spring as he said he would and they have gone on the offensive. But so has the Taliban, especially in Pakistan.

Finally Pakistan is doing something about it and yes I think your right, it is a concern since Pakistan has nukes. But just like Isreal won't tolerate an Arab country with nukes, neither will the Indians if they think they will fall in the wrong hands.

What is the purpose of US forces in Afghanistan? What do we hope to achieve? How long is it going to take? Obama doesn't know, so he has a little time to finalize that and put troops in place to make it happen. Americans have a short attention span when it comes to military actions so pressure is on to do something that will show progress.

If US forces were to leave, it would be seen as a win for Al Qaida and the Taliban although I see no threat to the US since we are actively monitoring them, something we were not doing before. Their leadership has to constantly worry about Predators flying unseen above them but ready to attack quickly if they reveal themselves. Plus Pakistan is wising up and finally starting to put pressure on the Northwest Territories, which in the past they refused to do so.

I'm afraid you're right but then neither did Bush. We had a chance to chase these guys down and kill them no matter where they went, the world was with us after 9/11 but we wasted it and at the center of it was Rumsfeld. If it had been Gates I think a lot of things would have turned out better from the beginning.

I think everyone would whine and complain regardless of what President Obama does. Most of you complaining probably don't even know what is really going on. I support our military, country and President regardless of what happens.

The Army has found that troop morale in Afghanistan is down. No surprise here, if the Commander in Chief can't decide why should the troops put themselves in harms way. Obama doesn't understand the military or the enemy. The enemy is encouraged by his weak leadership.
