I am getting ready to give birth to my second child and will be having a repeat c-section. I am using Dr. Hasik, but didn't have my last baby at the Paragould Hospital. Has anyone had a c-section there? What is it like? Do you have to lay in recovery for a while before you get to go to the room and be with your baby? Can your spouse be in the room with you when they perform the c-section? At Jonesboro, you are taken straight to your room after delivery and they send a nurse in there with you to watch you and they clean the baby up in the room with you, so there is no time away from the baby. Just wondering what it is like in Paragould and what to expect.......

I had a c section there. yes, your spouse can be in there. I dont remember how long I had to wait to see my baby. Probably at least an hour. They gave me morphine...so I was pretty out of it.

Becton did my c section.

I also had a c section there....7 years ago almost. My doctore was not in town so Shedd did my C Section. He is the only DR I have ever seen use those clampy tong things (I forget the name of them) on a C Section but he did okay anyway. My husband (ex now) was in the room and almost passed out... I can't remember either how long I had to wait. But the nurses and everything else at AMMC were awesome.

I had my baby at St.Bernards and like you said, they cleaned the baby up in the room and the baby really never left your sight unless they were taking it for testing. However, my sister gave birth by c-section with dr hasik at ammc and their rule at the paragould hospital is the baby stay in the nursery the first 2 hours under the warmer and then they give the baby its first bath and then it goes back under the warmer for about 30 minutes, so you don't actually get to see your baby again until close to 3 hours after its born. I hated the rules at AMMC, for the fact that the family member want to see the baby more then just through the nursery! Dr Hasik was a wonderful doctor, no problems there, its just the rules of the hospital and nurses.

I would NEVER have my baby at AMMC!! I had my baby at St. Bernards. I to had to have a c-section. They were wonderful. It was just as you described. I was never AWAY from my baby. I have since had 3 friends deliver at AMMC...all 3 were by c-section. I felt so bad for them. By the time they got out of recovery...EVERYONE had already seen the baby and left! Before the mom had ever seen or held the baby. I don't think that is right! The mother should be the FIRST one to hold the baby! After all...they put 9 months into it!!!

I didn't have a c-section, but Dr. Hasik delivered my baby a week ago and he did an amazing job. He is a very good doctor. I'm sure a c-section is different, but they cleaned my son up in the room with me, let me hold him for a few minutes, then took him to give him his bath and whatever else they do and let me sleep. The epidural put me to sleep, when I woke up, they brought him back down to me.

I had 3 csections at AMMC. Dr.Hasik did my last one. I believe you have to stay in recovery for about 30 minutes...give or take. The nurse sits there and watches you and enters info into the computer. You spouse can be in there with you. There is only 1 person allowed, no cameras, etc. They hand the baby to your spouse and he will carry it to the nursery. They will clean the baby and put it under the light til the baby gains its normal body temp. It was always about an hour til I got to get my baby. I know thats a long time to wait. I did get to kiss my babies foreheads while their father was holding them but then they made him take them to the nursery. This whole set up is bad for mothers who are trying to breastfeed. I think they need to change a few rules at the hospital.

RUN!!! Go to St Bernards!! Your baby doesnt leave your room! I had a C section they handed the baby to my husband, then they went straight to our room. She was cleaned up there and never went to the nursery unless it was for the ped to see her. GO TO JONESBORO!!!

I love AMMC hospital I had my babies there and I would recommend it any time any day. They are so much more personable at AMMC. You people who say go to Jonesboro, you probably had no encounters at Paragould. Dr. Becton is GREAT! I have heard that Dr. Hasik is too.

I had a C-section there a little over 4 yrs ago. My son's father, my mom and sister were all with me till I went in for the Section itself. Then my sister went in. After I had my son I was took back to my room. It was 2-4 hrs before I was able to hold him. They have to check the baby out and do lab work to make sure he is health. Yes, I wanted to hold him, but better safe than sorry. OB dept. there is wonderful. IN the C-section room there is no video camera's allowed but you can take all the pics you want and yes your hubby can go in while the c-section is going on..

I had two c-sections at AMMC. Although I won't take my children there for anything else, I have no complaints on how they handled my o.b. care. There was only one nurse that was a B**** and this was 5 years ago so she is probably not there anymore. They do really check your child out though. My husband got to be with me and got to go with the baby when they were taking care of her so I didn't worry, I just laid back and relaxed. I knew I needed the rest. I figured I'd be on my own in a few days anyway so I took advantage!!!

Well I had a C-Section at AMMC by Dr. Hasik and it was great! I had no problems at all. He was very good to me! I waited about 45min to an hour to see my daughter but also I had to be put to sleep so that's a little different from a regular C-Section!

I had a csection there 8 months ago today. I had Dr Becton though. I highly recommend them because they did a great job. My mom was with me through the csection then she took the baby to the nursery while they tied my tubes. I then went to recovery for about 30 mins. I was then taken to my room and couldve had the baby right then but his temp was low so I had to wait a couple of hours. I can honestly say I was worried about going there because the way people talk about them but I was amazed! They have some of the BEST nurses there and you will love them. Tiffany was my nurse and I couldnt have asked for better. I had my first 2 sections at St Bernards and I think AMMC was as good if not better! Although I dont like Dr Hasik.

By the way, if the babys temp is low, they have to stay in the nursery under a lamp regaurdless what hospital you are at! Csection babys are highly prounned to have low temps. Mine was almost 3 weeks early so that might have been part of it. He was perfectly healthy though!

i had my daughter at ammc and dr. hasik was my dr. i had a c-section. it went great. i was in recovery i think 30 minutes to an hour but i had complications before and after my c-section. after i got back to my room my daughter never left my side except to go get cleaned up every morning her dr. came in my room to check her due to i was not able to get up out of the bed for almost 2 days after because of the problems i had. and no tiffany is not the best nurse there. when my daughter was 13 months old she was having problems and i had to take her to the ob department so they could do a cath and tiffany demanded that i leave the room and lori told tiffany to come out get me because lori finally had to pick my daughter up and hold her until i got back in the room becuase i have been with my daughter 24/7 for atleast a year up to a year and a half of her life and she is almost 2. but dr. hasik and most of the staff is great. betty lori and lana are my favorite day nurses and pam is my favorite evening nurse
