Shepherds fold ministries,a new mens rehababilitation center in Cardwell MO has plenty beds for addicts, after recieving an acceptance letter for entry a young man after being released from jail as an addict did what all addicts are known to do... Got high, then went to church knowing he wanted help more than anything. His acceptance letter was then revoked. I have a question is this ministrey not funded by donations from the community? Who chose to revoke this acceptance was it one self righteous founder, or was it a group of So Called Christian Board Membeers who were also once addicts? They seem to have forgotten what hold addiction has on someone... Whos fault do u feel it would be if this young man lost his life in addiction after reaching out for help... Who had the right to tell him he would be the downfall of the two or three others???

I agree with you.
The fact that he showed up there, especially after getting high, should've proven that he really wanted their help.
They need to have a special room for those like that - separate, to come down in safely, without being a danger to himself or others.
I think they have forgotten too...

We must stop enabling drug addicts. The best way to rehab one is to adopt the Singapore method of caning. It takes roughly two minutes to reform an addict using that method. We've spent enough time and money on these genuine fools who voluntarily disable themselves and then go around crying about a so-called "illness" and wanting "help." A good ass-whipping is about all they'll ever understand.
been there done that

I UNDERSTAND AS A FORMER ADDICT MYSELF, WE ALWAYS WANT ONE LAST HIGH BEFORE GETTING HELP! HE SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN GIVEN A LETTER IF THEY DIDNT PLAN ON HELPING HIM. PROGRAMS LIKE THE AGAPE HOUSE AND SHEPHERDS FOLD WILL WORK IF THEY ARE RUN RIGHT, I AM LIVING PROOF OF THAT, I DID IT WITH GODS HELP AND WITHOUT A A#$ WHOOPING, NO ONE IN THE 'APOSTLE'S FAMILY' MUST HAVE A ADDICTION, I DOUBT THAT!

He proved that he wasn't serious about wanting help.

Well in the shepard fold defense .... If those people left when they wanted to get High they shouldn't be able to come back .. It would be as if they were running some sort of flop house for dope heads to run to when they were out of dope just a free place to crash that is not healthy for the ones who are truely there wanting help!

Law Dog I'm so happy that addiction hasn't affected your life or loved ones! You must have had a cushy life. I on the other hand didn't and WAS A addict for years, I checked myself into a long term program and with God's help i've been clean for years. I know the person the letter was given to, both his parents are addicts and have abused and done unspeakable things to him! He never was given the chance to go to the program after he was given the letter THATS THE POINT! HE reached out for help and thought he would get it like his letter said, only to have the door shut in his face, but i'm sure he is used to it! Judge Not Lest You Be Judged Lawdog I hope you continue to be so blessed in your life!

Here's a thought, instead of getting on here raising a fuss about whether or not it was the "right thing to do", why don't you find out what their policy is regarding the offense your friend committed? It could just be that they have rules outlined for this particular incident. If your friend was aware of the policy when he applied then who do you think should be "blamed" for his getting high and being revoked?

Just asking, I don't know any of these people involved but I do know there are usually policies and provisions provided to anyone seeking any type of help.

I know some addicts that do get help and go on with their life, good for them. Some don't try. Lowdogg, I hope you never have a child or grandchild that has an addiction. If you do, you will try and get help for them, just like those of us, that not been so lucky.

I just have one comment....NO rehab is going to help someone, if he/she doesn't want to be helped.

From what I understand the director has given out more than one acceptance letter and changed his mind. Its wrong to get someones hopes up about getting help, then tell them they cant come.

Well, i seem to have entered the discussion a little late!! My dilemma is quite simple actually......I am an addict and need a loving, Almighty God to save me from myself!!! If it was as easy as" just saying no", or some other nonsense, id have done it years ago!!! Its NOT!!! Addiction is a disease!!! No different than cancer or congestive heart failure!!! You can tell cancer" no" all ya want.....its still gonna kill ya if ya dont aggresively treat it! so would someone, anyone who knows about this place PLEASE post some facts about their program! Im desparate here!!!
