Laying off 125 people in January, low volume sales is the reason. May loose Whirlpool contract.

Emerson Electric use to be a fairly
decent place to work. They would
look after their employees but now
Emerson doesn't care what happens
to any of its employees.
Emerson is just like the other larger
companies they do not care. The higher
ups at Emerson gets big salaries and
huge bonues every year. Those bosses
either don't understand or don't care
those profits, bonues and salaries are
made off the backs of the hourly employees. Emerson Electric could save
the plant and keep it in Paragould but
it would require the higher ups to
turn down the bonues and take a cut in
salary. think that is going to happen no.
Emerson Electric hourly employees made
a few folks rich but Emerson does not
care about their hourly employees.

So, the big E will soon be in Mexico
and no one in the higher up postions
will give one thought to the ones who
made them wealthy.

No matter what the media may call it, we are already in a deep recession. House construction is at the lowest levels in years. 20% of mortgage holders owe more than their house is worth. ALL auto makers recorded sales declines of around 30% in October. That's 30% in ONE MONTH! Even the luxury brands were down.

So, a dead housing industry means no new washers and dryers being sold. WHIRLPOOL just announced a reduction of 5000. It's not to be mean or cold. It's what they have to do to SURVIVE.

I'm sure Emerson DOES care about it's employees, but if the demand isn't there, what can they do?

I think things are going to get MUCH worse before they get better, and that whoever wins this election today is going to have their hands full.

I have it on good authority that Emerson will not be shutting down anytime soon and may possibly be laying off around 25-50 not in the near future though.
