You can't have anything anymore because of some idiots. Big game that was so important. Third grade football.

if the coach grabbed the kids by his shoulder pads and then grabbed his face mask and yelled at the kids, he needs to be told that he will not be coaching again. There is no sense in that at all!

he didn't. He told a player on opposing team to stop kicking another player. The boys dad went nutts and had to be restrained. Nobody wants someone grabbing their child but that is not what happened. It is all about daddy ball and irrational parents thinking their third grade children are headed for the sec. It is not a school program now but I bet it will be next year just to keep parents from acting like idiots. Not just this parent others yell at the opposing players and the children don't understand why.

Aren't there problems like this in lots of youth league sports? You seem to have more "attitude" from the players AND parents if you see a coach acting foolish.
Some men are just boys. Probably always will be.

there are a lot of problems like this in youth leagues. However most of the time it stems from hot headed parents who jump to conclusions and try to act macho. I think if and when the truth is actually revealed there will be a lot of parents having to apologize for listening to someone who causes trouble in every sport his kid plays in. One incident shouldn't define someone, and unfortunately it is for the coach involved. Past records and actions should be reviewed involving this parent and his child. I'd that was done a lot of light might be shed on this situation.

So who screwed up? A coach or a parent? Or maybe the ref because he should be the one controlling and PENALIZING players who are out of control on the field. If the kid was kicking, his arse shoulda been sent to the sideline, and the other team shoulda got a 10 yard advancement.

I saw a flag thrown at one - yes, ONE- of my kid's ballgames and I almost had a stroke! I didn't think our Youth League refs even had any flags in their pocket.

You are correct- the coach in this case is just a jerk and has shown his true colors on numerous occasions. He should not be allowed to coach kids anymore.

Not sure that I would say the coach is the problem. Not sure that is what I said at all actually. I believe in this case the parent who went ballistic is the one to blame. Now if he is the coach you are referring to, then yes I agree with you. But the coach that delicately scolded the parents kids for kicking one of his players did what any good coach should do. Again thi parent has been the center of a lot of controversies in youth sports and therefore I feel that is where the problem lies. When a parent sees his little "allstar" get in trouble they will most likely do whatever it ales to make sure their kid is the victim, whether they really are or not.

The dad that went nuts is about half off of his rocker anyway, so it doesn't surprise me that he was involved. Trouble has a way of finding him at any sporting event.

If my child was being jerked around senselessly by an adult, I would be out on the field too.

I was not there, but I tend to believe that this child was not in any danger. The coach was only correcting his unsportsmanlike antics on the field.

The kid's parent did not like the coach and had a preconceived "grudge" before this ever happened. So he charged the field at the first opportunity.

When a coach is doing his job (teaching and correcting) because the ref did NOT see it or correct it (they don't call ANY PENALTIES- not kidding), the coach has done nothing wrong.

The parent sounds like he might have too much pent-up anger. Therapy might be a good step for him.

Parents need to step back and realize these are CHILDREN- not mini- pro players. Encourage them to participate in sports and learn and have fun. Teach them about teamwork and good sportsmanship. Be a humble winner, and a proud loser.

There is alittle bit of difference between a 3rd/4th grader and a high school kid.

Theres a difference between getting a player's attention by putting a hand on them out of CONCERN or out of AGGRESSION. My kid doesn't play high school YET. But if a coach EVER touches my kid out of ANGER, he will hear from a lawyer.

And don't EVEN reply by saying my kid will never make it in high school sports if he can't take the heat. He is very athletic in every sport he plays. He CAN take the heat. But he has a momma that's not gonna put up with violence, cursing, or bullying from a coach.
