cost for the day is 350.00 I believe. It is a very nice place, you ought to set up a time to go look at it.

Swindle's "Barn" - aka: Lakeview Recreation Center will seat 150 people inside. You can call Fred Swindle and leave a message, he'll call you back. It's $350 for the day (or evening.) A $100 deposit will hold your reservation. Congratulations and best wishes!

Is there a good location outside for an outdoor wedding at Swindle's??'got a reservation for May' is your wedding going to be indoors or out? Just curious.. I'm not planning my own wedding, I have two friends who live out of state who are getting married here so I am trying to help them out as much as I can. They are wanting an outdoor wedding so I'm trying to find the best location here in town.

The Rec Center has a "stream" at one side of the parking area. It also has a cute little walkway and bridge going up to the Cabin. I doubt they would have a problem letting you take pics outside. The area around the building is covered with trees but there is no formal area for setting things up for an outside wedding.
My suggestion would be for the Craighead Forest Nature Center, it is really pretty building with outdoor seating overlooking the lake.

had a wedding there have no complaints about the swindle people. But the man that came to show us what we could and could not use was very hateful. WE put every thing back just like it was when we arrived he called my daughter who was the new bride the night we left and told her it was a disaster. we had went above and beyond what we were to do. we had rented chair's from somoeone and they brought the chairs the night of rehearsal told us where to put them after the wedding he would pick them up later, The man made us move them outside. also outside grills don't work , projector did not work. the place is beautiful for a wedding btu we paid 575.00 with things broken and then was treated really bad by the man who came to lock up. Do not requimend unless they get a new manager for the place.

350.00 for the day of, 175.00 for half a day before , and 50.00 for having it outside ( they do nothing extra for a outdside wedding)

Wedding at Swindle Farms - don't do it. I would recommend an alternate location until they get a new custodian for the place. The man was rude starting Friday afternoon and only got worse as the weekend progressed. He called the bride and groom on the wedding night at 11:00 pm saying that the place was trashed -- it wasn't. We had 35+ people cleaning up after the wedding. We were even required to remove all the trash from the trash cans and take it with us. His complaints ranged from the right number of chairs in each stack & tables not stacked properly in the garage to the fact that live rose petals were left outside on the grass! He demanded that all chairs and tables be restacked and all LIVE rose petals be picked up off the grass because they "make a mess". After all this was done, he then accused the wedding party of stealing plastic clothes hangers and said that "people like us" were the reason that they do not have anything in the building. We offered to pay him for any missing plastic hangers and he would not even respond. He cursed the bride's mother & aunts in front of the bride & told the groom's mother to "shut-up" in front of the groom -- this at 11:00 pm on their wedding night. Nine people returned at 11:00 pm to set things right to suit this man -- who would not even respond to the requests of what all needed to be done to get everything restored to his satisfaction in order for the bride & groom to receive the deposit back. I feel that he simply wanted an excuse to keep the $100 deposit and thought that when he called the bride & groom on their wedding night and told them that they had to drive 45 minutes back to Swindle Farms and re-do everything that had already been done that they would just tell him to keep the deposit. In short go elsewhere if you do not want to have this happen to your bride & groom on their wedding night.

You need to let Mr Swindle know about this, I personally know Fred and I think he would be upset at this behavior from his long time employee.

Does Swindle farms have a web sight where you can get comments directly to Mr. Swindle? Maybe he does not know that the caretaker is like this. If anyone out there has fred swindles phone number I would love to have it. I really think 575.00 is a lot of money to pay for something and then be treated like we were. also to charge 50.00 to have it out side when they did nothing out side. we could not even sit their tables up on the patio to let people eat on.

I have a reservation for next year in May. I really hope this gets fixed before then. I want my friends to have a wonderful wedding. I would call Mr. Swindle, he seemed like a nice guy on the phone. I don't know his number but I know it's in the phone book. Keep us informed.

Your friend might want to know that if they plan on having a slideshow the projector that is on site does not work we had to rent a projector at an additional $200 fee, also the barbaque grills on the patio are burnt out, we brought our own to use for the rehearsal dinner. Also, make sure to go in a several hours before your wedding because we had turned the air conditioning on to insure that our wedding party could get dressed in comfort, when we arrived at noon on the day of the wedding the air had been turned completely off and it was 80+ degrees in the building, we were lucky that our wedding was in the evening and we had time to cool it off before the reception, but if we hadn't checked our wedding party would have been melting in the heat. The grounds are very pretty and the outside picture are beautiful, but charging an additional $50 for an outside wedding seems kind of silly considering that the building itself really has nothing to offer that you can't get at the community center for a cheaper price. Also, the chairs and tables on site are not allowed outside, so when you are preparing for an outside wedding you will have to rent chairs and any tables that you might need.

Good luck to your friend, my advice is ask lots of questions and get everything in writing, don't leave the site until the caretaker has arrived after your wedding and tells you he is satisfied even if you have to wait until midnight. If you don't you probably won't get your deposit back.

if you are looking for a place in paragould to hold a wedding or reception i would STRONGLY SUGGEST THAT YOU STAY AWAY FROM THE ATKINS CELEBRATION HALL!!! I was at a wedding reception just recently and the bride and groom were very unhappy. They had the Atkins reserved for over 2 yrs and were told they could start decorating on Friday morning for the reception on saturday and would have until monday to finish taking their stuff out. At 9:30 the night of the reception the owner's approached the groom, and the bride's parents to inform them that all the stuff HAD to be taken that night bc the owner's had booked a wedding there the following day. THIS WAS WHILE THE BRIDE AND GROOM WERE TRYING TO CELEBRATE THEIR MARRIAGE!!!!! Also, the owner's has a dog that runs around all over the place....including in the back of the building (this is where the kitchen is located!!!). and at the reception, the owner walkd around in a shirt and shorts and BAREFOOT! all the guest at the reception were dressed up very nice! then to top it off...the owner's husband went over with his bare fingers and pinched himself off a bite of cake. I WOULD ADVISE ANYBODY TO NEVER BOOK THE ATKINS FOR ANYTHING! THERE IS ANOTHER FORUM....JUST LOOK IN PARAGOULD ARKANSAS...THE TITLE IS "ATKINS CELEBRATION HALL"

If you are having an inside wedding the new community center in paragould is beautiful and very reasonable on their prices.

I just went out yesterday to look at the place for our wedding in November. It was very beautiful and the older gentleman showing me the place was very sweet! His name was Glenn Greathouse. Is this man that everyone is talking about? If so, please let me know so I can inform Mr. Swindle because my dad is a friend of his, and I want to make sure these things are taken care of before November.
