Has anyone used liberty tax? How long does it tax for your refund to come in usually? Not rapid refund, just the regular one.
Also, what do they charge? Someone told me, they were charged 350 dollars, and it wasn't even a rapid refund. Seems a little expensive. I'm debating weather I want to use Liberty, or Jackson Hewitt. What do you all think?
we use liberty tax every year and if you do go ask for Lori. she is GREAT. we have to do an injured spouse tax return and yes it does cost like 400.00 dollars but ours takes about 14-16 weeks just because ours has to be reviewed by the IRS. but anyway i think is like 20.00-50.00 dollars for a regular income tax. i really do like Liberty Tax and i think everybody should go there

Here's their advertisement on the web site too. I did ask for a refund on mine. It says I will get an answer in 24 hours, so we'll see.
TurboTax now includes free electronic filing with every federal return prepared with desktop software products. TurboTax is the only tax software to include both e-filing and audit support with every federal return.
TurboTax customers can e-file up to five federal tax returns, the limit set by the IRS, and prepare and print multiple returns at no additional cost.
Including free e-filing with every federal return is one more way we help make it easier for TurboTax customers to keep more money in their pockets.
There you go again. Bitching about wanting something for nothing.

It shouldn't matter who you use. It's not like the deductions are more only if you use Liberty. It's what you pay for the prep that matters.

Just an FYI for any Turbo Tax users. I got an email response today from Turbo Tax. They are refunding my $14.95 federal filing fee that they charged me. So if anyone has this same problem, email them!

I would not recommend Jackson Hewitt. I did a short form, already had everything laid out for them. It took about 30 min for them to type in the numbers. Im getting back about 3600 and they charged me over 300. And they will not tell you how much they are going to charge, not even a clue until they are asking for you to write a check. What a rip off.

Over 300.00 ?? Did you get a RAL ? I just did mine there on Wednesday and it cost me less than 100.00. But, I just had my refunds (4100.00) direct deposited into my checking account. It does cost alot more if you have the "rapid" stuff done because you get your money within 24 hours....you pay for that !

Folks, the bigger your refund shouldn't mean the more they charge. If you had straight W2s and use the standard deduction it really only takes like 5 minutes to put the stuff in a computer. The only reason you should be charged a bunch is if you do rapid refund or bring in a boatload of receipts and bills to sift through.

400.00 is outrageous! I use a licensed CPA with more than 30 years experience and have for more than 10 years. I also file injured spouse and he has NEVER charged anywhere near that amount. We also have 1099's because my husband is self employed. If you think 400.00 is a reasonable price because of an injured spouse form you should be checking around. Plus the people who are seasonal employees at places like Liberty are not CPA'S, if I paid that kind of money to an accounting service the people working for me had darned well better be certified with a masters degree to charge that kind of money.

i am an employee at liberty tax and we do not charge over 250. and if you have been charged over that then I am sorry. It is all computer based and we do have to give adjustments and discounts to our customers to lower the prices. But it is our plicy not to charge over 250. for a return, so let it be known that if you get your taxes done there this year and they try to charge you over the 250 amount that it is over the limit. and just ask for the manager.

Thanks

I did mine there this week, simple stuff got charged almost $200! My boyfriend went that same day and it was going to be $450 but they dropped it to $300! I'm not even getting back $1000 dollars so I think Liberty is a total rip off and this is the 3rd and LAST year I use them!!

I used Liberty a few years ago and they charged me almost $200 and I didn't get it back any faster then I would have with turbo tax! So now I am back with turbo tax and paid $25 to efile both state and federal and had both refunds in less then 2 weeks!

I agree. I wish more people would take advantage of that site. I've been using it for several years, and have never had a problem. Plus I get back much more money using Turbo Tax then other places.

Say what you want, but Liberty will treat you with respect and not be rude to you. If you have a problem they will do whatever it takes to take care of you and make you happy. They did a great job with my takes and charged me a fair price. If you have a problem give them a chance and I promise you they will make it right with you. I got my taxes done at Jackson Hewitt and H&R Block in the past and they could care less if they make me happy.

They aren't treating people with respect by RIPPING them off. It's BS. I'll go to H and R block next year. Liberty sucks. Getting charged 350 is BS!

I have used Jackson Hewitt for years. Never had a problem, they tell you how much it will cost to get your refund different ways. 200 for 8 to 10 days. 300 for RAL. Less than 200 for standard filing I cant remember what that one is.
