Clips that hold more than 10 rounds should be banned.

I own one. Never once has it jumped up and tried to kill me. Look back over history at all the mass murders by other means. Unibomber. Timothy McVey. I don't think I spelled that right. Charles Manson. Most recently the terrorist that attacked on 9/11. They had box cutters and killed hundreds and hundreds oF people. I can keep going but I won't. A deranged person that is set on killing people will find a way to do it.
Ever time there is a shooting guns are blamed. Nobody blames cars for drunk driving. Nobody blames spoons for people being fat. Nobody blames the person. If people would be safer with their guns this stuff wouldn't happen.
Take this shooting for example if all 4 of the guns had been locked in a safe that only the mother knew the combination to there is a chance it never would have happened. As I said before I have guns. Many different types. My wife and I are the only ones that know the combination to the safe. My kids will never know. Yet I teach both of them about guns and gun safety. Why? Because I am a RESPONSIBLE GUN OWNER!!!! There's the key.
It is a whole lot harder to kill people with box cutters or bombs (which aren't legal anyway and are rare) than with assault rifles.

If more guns were the answer, then we should be one of the safest countries in the world. We are the most armed country in the world, but no, we have the most gun violence. So the answer is more guns? Yeah.

Now, Your point. Let me guess the 10 round max thing. Okay. 1 in the chamber and 10 in the clip. Still one gun. Limit the size all you want criminals will break the law. Pick up a dictionary and read the definition of criminal!! They don't follow the law.
There's 25 more dead.

I'm afraid if they ban those and the bad guys come after us we will be out gunned. Remember the bank robbery where the robbers had automatic weapons and when the police came after them they were almost slaughtered because they had no automatic weapons, too?
We have the right to protect ourselves.

So even if you limit the clip size and for some reason you find an honest criminal that follows that law are you going to limit the number of magazines someone can carry? So for your theory to work you would have to pass two laws AND get all criminals and deranged people to follow them. Let me remind you. HE STOLE THE GUNS FROM HIS MOTHER BEFORE ANYONE DIED!!!! So... This DERANGED MAN started the entire thing my STEALING guns that were LEGALLY OWNED BY SOMEONE ELSE. Pause... Did you catch that?? The legal gun owner didn't kill anyone.
What I catch is, you gun lovers are ignorant in thinking the NRA is your pal. They are lobbyists for gun manufacturers, not gun owners.

They pump millions into propaganda campaigns to frighten you into thinking you'll die in your bed if you don't own 20 weapons.

The NRA has had NO response or statement about the Sandy Hook Massacre as of yet. They are silent.

See how you've been taken for a ride?

Because of the exponentially large number of assault weapons, along with all the accessories, already in the US, I think it would be a waste of political clout to attempt an assault weapons ban. The NRA is itching for a fight because it builds membership and there war chest and there is just to much of a divide among our citizenry on the issue for an assault weapons ban to ever come about. I'm a gun owner & collecter but I think a background check is a sensible idea that should be required for all gun sales but even this notion is hotly contested. I don't want Democrats wading into this losing battle when we need a united party and public addressing spending cuts and taxation. I just don't think we can address legislation to prevent insane & twisted people bent on reaking wide-scale destruction. I wish I had an answer for how you prevent tragedies like Sandy Hook but I don't.

We all have a right to protect ourselves. The police can't be everywhere at once. If someone comes into our homes we aren't safe without some kind of protection. The most effective is a gun.

Guns per say did not kill those people. A deranged human being did. He would have found a way regardless. He didn't just snap and go crazy in an instant. With that much weapondry, it was well planned out.

We will never be able to stop it all, but it might slow down considerably if you would turn to another source for part of the blame. TV and MOVIES and GAMES. What is going on is exactly what society is accustomed to. It's what people see all the time. It's teaching deranged and well rounded people how to harm others in the worst possible way and give no thought to the consequences at all. After all if happens all the time on tv.

Stop the hostile progamming and see what happens. We are all victims of it. It changes the way we think and how we see others. It changes the language we use and the actions of everyone. Death use to be something horrific (it still is) but people are so accustomed to seeing it every time they turn on TV or go to a movies, that they don't feel the same compassion as they once did. The bloodier and gorrier (prob. misspelled) the person is who died the harder people try to get a view of them. They can't wait to post it somewhere for everyone else to see, too. This is horrible.

Many as parents were allowed such things, and now allow their children to do the same, from the time they are in diapers until the are grown. Stop watching the junk, force the issue of better programming, throw away those deadly games kids play and really try to help out.

This is a far worse influence on everyone than a gun. It begins with the parents. How many of you will be watching something just as deadly on TV or the movies this very night or this week? How many of you will actually turn the channel or discard the games. If you do, will you sell them or throw them in the trash, ripped to shreads, where they belong. Will it be your child that does the next evil? Will you blame the guns, the TV, his/her friends? None of us have any way of knowing. Actions begin at home from the day we are born until we are adults and yes even beyond.

And one more thing I have on my mind as well. I think it's wonderful to help these poor vicims, but at the same time, I don't think it's wise to go overboard about this with our children, at home or in school. Why put any ideas in anyone else's head about trying to out do this act. The more attention, the more likely for someone to try and do worse.

how are you going to get criminals to follow the law? What was you answer again?
Simple.

If you're caught with an illegal firearm you'll go to jail for a long time.

Check the laws in New Jersey, Massachusetts, and New York.

Drive yourself thru a toll booth on the Jersey Parkway with your 9MM on the dash and see how long it is before you see the dirt of Arkansas again.

Hint; One Year minimum.

What will stop this is parenting. Sorry, but I'm with Dr Drew on this. We have society of ignorant parents. Their kids are outcasts, quiet, reserved, loners with no friends or social skills. They make excuses for them instead of getting them mental help. The government will eventually step in & make it a law that every child under 18 to have a mental evaluation. If a problem is found.... help will be not only provided, it will be court ordered. Parents need to quit saving their pride of being embarrassed & openly admit their kids are sick. Ignoring it or treating it as if it's a phase only escalated it to what has transpired. All of these school killings & mass killings have a common theme aside from guns. These people were all strange, odd in nature, not socially active & very distant. It's time for parents to step up & take ownership of their children. Just because they excel in school with a high intellect doesn't make them a good stable individual. As a society we lean more to looking at problematic kids, the fighters, detention goers & aggressive types. These kids are what I call normal....these others committing crimes such as the shootings are sleepers. Those I fear. We all should fear them. People get your kids help if they fit the profile...please!

By elimating these large clips one by one, we can make an impact.

If a person is caught with a clip holding more than 10 rounds, it should be a mandatory 10 years being Bubbas little b!tch.
Destroy the clips as they are found. Ban the manafacturing of these.

I own several guns, for hunting and personal protection, and see no reason to have a 30 or 100 round clip.
If I can't drop a burglars azz in 10 shots then I probably shouldn't own a gun anyway.

I think schools have become the ideal target because they have no protection. Guns are banned from schools so it is so easy to go in and take control of one. More guns may help, if all the employees of the school where asked to volunteer to conceal carry and say take the best 3 or 4 per building not letting anyone know who they were and give the some tactical training then the schools would not be the target that they are now. If anyone in the office would have had a gun it could have been a totally different outcome.

Guns aren't disposable. All they would have to do is spend a other $15 and get another clip. Banning guns would do nothing. The schools has to be prepared for these things. Why are liberals so eager to take away our rights?
