I doubt if that place will be affordable to most of us. Rich folks need a place too though. Bless their hearts.

They might as well just use the existing hospital instead of building the "CHATEAU".

After the new mega hospital is finished in Jonesboro AMH will be dead in the water anyway.

This new hospital is HUGE and will gobble up any others in their way....

First class quality care, state of the art equipment, brand new facility, for the same money, instead of worn out equipment, second class care, and only 20 min, away, can"t wait.

And the new hospital will hopefully have staff that knows whats going on and can help people instead of telling you and treating you for something that is completely wrong!!!! This hospital is good for one thing and that is changing the bandage (if they can do that) and moving on down the road. Have a good day.

How much is being subsidized by taxes? My grandmother checked into it. For her to have the smallest apartment (650 square feet or so) with no extra services (like help with medication, bathing, etc) it would cost her $2900 a month. We about fell over when they told us that. Larger rooms and more services just raise the cost.

you think 2900 is too much? well just think about this for a minute.. if you have a loved one or yourself and need assistance and you have to pay someone to help you.. figure it up.. it's gonna cost over 7000 a month for 24 hour care. is it totally for the rich? well maybe so but for the others there's ganh or belle meade.. go check the cost out to stay there!!! oh yeah,, that's right medicaid and medicare will pay for those... oh and heaven forbid that families actually step up and take care of their own folks...

Taxes aren't paying for the facility. And even if they were,my dad was in a nursing home in Forrest City and I paid almost $4,000 a month for him to be in a worn out old hospital room.

I honestly don't understand this attitude that because some people are more fortunate than others, and that they are willing and able to spend their own money to have nice place to live, somebody is being screwed over. Nobody is taking anything away from the less fortunate. AMH is responding to need in the community, and by doing so insuring it will be profitable.

Get over the jealousy.

Chateau is for AMMC managers and their families to live after the new NEA puts em outa business.

Surely the rooms left over for our elders will be paid for by Obama after the U.S. government pissed away old folks SSI money years ago??? right???

I mean if they "borrowed" from the SSI pot ain't they supposed to pay it back?? If not, surely Chateau would take an IOU from old folks and collect from Obama...wouldn't you think??

But HEY! here's a novel idea!!!!! take care of those that gave you life, clothed you, fed you, loved you, and raised you yourself!!!

It might be hard to imagine for many but not too long ago there were no nursing homes and that's what those who can remember did, those Americans that valued pride....Grandparents, and family.

I'm glad your mom and you are happy with Sunshine Manor. I didn't mean to imply there aren't other nice places for older people, and if I gave that impression, I' m sorry,
I just meant that there are people who are willing and able to spend a lot of money for a place to live. I think it's smart for AMH to offer that service.
I'm just saddened by the fact that so many Paragould people have to be jealous of anything that happens positive around here, and seem to be happy when something bad happens.

If you read what I posted, you would see that I stated it was $2900 a month for NO extra services. Just the apartment. And I DO think $2900 a month for an apartment is too much.

i understand this will for the richer people.
i know it will be expencive to live there.
what i don't understand is. where did ammc get the extra money for it. Do they make such a profit from patients they can afford this? why take the profit they make and build something for the rich?
Help out all the community and lower the cost of hospital stays Arent they a COMMUNITY HOSPITAL?
are they in busines with the insurance companeys?
Is this a money making venue. or just a NICE nursing home for a few elderly residents-family?

Not true, it is called a federal funded hud loan, I know the lawyer that did the loan process, there were some donations made to the hospital foundation which is building the chateau, since the foundation is a private nonprofit organization, they can qualify for a low interest hud loan, which is taxpayer money, loaned by the federal government.
