River boat jobs

Does anyone know anything about working on barge boats? Do they pay well?

From what I have heard, Females are normally the cooks, and Males are the deckhands

Just wondering, I dont like the idea of my man staying 30 days on the same boat as woman. Not that I dont trust him but i'm sure all woman would think that way

these aren't young women, they are normally quite older. My daughters grandmother works on one and she's 50. Her dad worked on one for years and always said that the women could cook good but were always older ladies.

oh ok well thats good to know. I trust my hubby, just kinda made me feel uneasy if their were going to be woman his age on there. But that eases my mind. Thanks and I appreciate it.

One place i know of is Ingram Barge Company... I know they have a website... you can google it. I know this one is a pretty good one.
