Pepsi pays more to the restaurant to place their product. Coke wont pay kickback money, 7up RC pays well too

Restaurants all used to serve Pepsi and Coke. Now it is hard to find a good Pepsi unless you stop at a machine before you go to eat. I have before and they haven't said anything to me yet for taking it in.

Wrong. Ours is a national account and we pay a lot less for Coke and their rebates are better than Pepsi. Nobody pays us to place thier product and unless you have a national account or a really creative account manager you also have to pay for the beverage companies logoed cups. Then there is the delivery schedules that both companies have gone to. Some of them make you wait 2 weeks to receive orders and make you order a minimum quantity. If it is a small business they can't really afford to tie up hundreds of dollars in syrup they don't need.

I am so happy that you work at a national chain. Keep in mind that the soft drink companies deal with national accounts MUCH different than they do local mom and pops ( the vast majority of the restaurants and C-stores ) Fist off as a store level employee of a national brand you have absolutely no idea about CDA money since that is negotiated much hgher than you. You also have no idea what the copporate price is on syrup since the price corporate pays is not what the soft drink companies invoice at the store level. You are given only the information that they ( your bosses) want you to know. I have owned several restaurants in this area, and I am speaking with authority when I say that pepsi pays the Mom and Pop places better than does Coke. In my situations Coke was going to charge for the BIB equipment and for the dispenser equipment. 7UP was the best deal available on equipment and Pepsi paid the most CDA money. I will happily scan contract offerings if that is what you need to backup my post.

Hi Race!!(still crazy about you)
Pepsi has always tasted better than Coca-cola. I have seen recipes that use Coke to tenderize meat. It is just a shame that the big companies make deals to feature their product and exclude others all in the name of $$$. You would think that in America we could have a choice of soft drink but instead we have to choose restaurants. Soft drinkers should unite. Those of you who like Pepsi should ask for it at restaurants that you know only serve Coca-cola. Those of you who prefer Coke should ask for Pepsi at restaurants that you know only serve Pepsi. And when they try to offer you something else, order thet best beverage with food... water.

I ask for Pepsi everytime. When they tell me they don't serve it, I roll my eyes and order water or sweet tea.

I do the same thing. Ask for Pepsi everywhere knowing that they don't serve it. Actually complain. Then ask for a sweet tea cut in half. Or water.

I work in a restaurant and we sell coke products. From what I understand, our contract with coke only allows us to have one or two other sodas and we have dr. pepper and diet dr. pepper. I don't know if pepsi does the same thing.
