I guess not since no-one can answer a post!! If anyone has any information on why they are laying us workers off. Well I havent been laid off yet, but from what I understand they are not giving any details. Just wondered if anyone else has heard.

Your never going to get the truth out of those snakes that run darling...why because they are so afraid of walmart that what ever walmart wants or doesnt want dictates what they do..I was there 10 years in fact...aint a damn one of them got the gonads to tell walmart no even when they already have more work that they can do ...if walmart wants more they will hire newb's and make everybody else work 10/12 hours a day 7 days a week with no regard for the health and well being of their employees..in fact the whole show at darling is a fasad...their superiors in chicago think they are running a the buisness based on a Kan-Ban system which is related to lean manufacturing with the basic principle being production is based on incoming orders. The fact of the matter is they are still building to a 'forcast' building inventory and in some cases hiding the inventory from the chicago bosses on their plant visits.there is also large scale inappriopate things going on between the buyers and vendors in some cases. The buyer in corning purchases supplies from her son at triple the prices at which the same product can be purchased...something terribly wrong with that picture..I know 4 a fact the plant manager in corning(not his real title now) is aware of this and must be o k with it or it wouldnt be happening..there are some good people in the plants but it sure as hell aint the managemant...i could go on and on but i think you get the picture..if you were to get hired at Corning or paragould rest assured you will be laid off due to union / seniorty issues...go there at your own risk...your gonna get shafted before long ..Ive seen it happen too many times...So Randy Guthrie and who ever is in charge in paragould I will be waitng for your response to this ..And if you deny these things Ill call you a liar...been there and i know the truth !

I refer to the upper management in the previous post...the saleried team that work on the floor are as a whole ok and ane not allowed to participate in the behind the scene descisions that result in the B/s that goes on there. In fact the present manager at corning at least has replaced some good people with his old 'buddies' that previously worked for him in other plants...i guess thats o k but it was done in most cases in a shady manner...get rid of people with good solid experence under the guize of cutbacks and turn around and replace them with a a good ol buddy doing the same job but giving them a different job title..whats that add up to ?...you tell me !

My goodness..maybe the 'boss's' in Chicago X refers too should read this ...you think?...So guest 2 looks like your not going to get a response to your original question.
I really dont know much about Darling but its sad, no its repulsive to think that the struggle that manufacturing in the USA is going through is being run by ,or,being lead by this type manager (s).
We in the USA have been quick to lay blame at the feet of labor unions, our government, and the Chinese for the for the rapid decline and loss of our manafacturing base.If the things X has written are true partially or completly then we should possibly point the finger at ourselves first.Paying 3 times the fair market value for supplies ,getting rid of experenced workers in order to replace them with ones cronies...hiding product from the company higher ups,etc makes the matter of foriegn competition a little less important than having a good house cleaning within our factories.I have no experence in manufacturing but I bet the people leading this plant dont over pay for their personal needs. The placement of ones's cronies is a game old as time...as is the saying of reap what you sew...thats my 2 cents worth...for what its worth !

It was recently in the news that Warren Buffett,Birkshire Hathaway has purchased controling intrest in Marmon Companies, parent of L.A.Darling.
Mr Buffett did not obtain his financial position in life allowing the things to go on as described in the previous posts. Its now only a matter of time before changes are made at Marmon. Most likely these less than scrupulious managers will be found out about. If I were in their shoes's I would start to look for another job. So all in all when the curtain falls its most likley to fall on you !...Let the cookies crumble were they may

Hey 2 cent-er your right on the mark with your comments..Rest assured the things i stated are true...You dont see any response or attempt to refute the things I stated do you?...why? they cant deny the facts and would only tangle them selves up further in their own falsehoods if they tried.
i think guest 2 deserves an answer from the 'snakes' that run darling...Nothing there is as it appears..They all big dogs inside them factory walls but tremble at the knees when Chicago is coming for a visit..two face cowards is what that adds up to !

I worked at the Darling Specialty Metals Division for a few months last year. I know alot of people that work there (mostly floor workers, not office sitters) and it's sad. Everyone's getting laid off left and right. Point in case: I worked a temporary job verifying and/or correcting blanks and coil usage for shelves (I made sure that the amount of metal purchased equalled the amount of shelves produced and vice versa). The guy that did that for 30 years - 30 years - got sacked because they found 3 other overly-worked saps to do the job. I was just there to help out and get the process moving.(Sure I felt bad but it was going to happen anyways. At least I was nice and friendly towards the old guy. He was like 60 years old and new the system up and down but it didn't really matter - the chumps upstairs in Chicago wanted to layoff another person...again).
Anyone know the new muffler shop on 2nd/Pruett owned by Marla? I worked with her for a while in the office. This is my perspective only, mind you: Turns out that Marla's boss wanted her to change alot of the record numbers when she turned in reports to the bosses in Chicago. Marla refused and the french-accented woman told her she'd be better off working somewhere else. Well, looks like Marla's making more money than her ex-boss now and having no one working over her.
Don't get me wrong - there were alot of nice people that worked in the office. Sam and Natasha to name two (can't remember anyone else right now). There was also Robert Long - a grrreat guy who's daughter Chelsea I'm good friends with. He was always really nice to work with and worked hard too. Those kind of people are what has kept Darling running so far (other than the floor workers, of course - too many to name. I'll mention "Beautiful Grandma" and the brownie man to name a few). Too bad such great people work under such you-know-whats either in P-gould or in Chicago.
I enjoyed working at Darling for the bit I worked there - it was slowpaced so I got my work done more quickly (hence the reason I was terminated a month before the expected date, lol). I even learned some Hebrew from the guy I temporarily replaced (he wasn't Hebrew but he was studying the Hebrew bible (the original bible)).
Anyways, I'm getting wayyy off track. I hope Darling is in business for a looong time. Some loved ones have worked there for over 18 years+_

Claire is really a b**ch. I worked with her for a long time until I finally quit and started working in Jonesboro. She's the epitome of crooked ways and was always wanting us to change record numbers and stuff. I'm glad I left. It's too bad, though, that she still works there. I always hoped Marmon would catch on and fire her but then I always forget - the whole company's crooked. The only good people are working on the floor or stuffed away in corners in the offices. :(

I used to work in the piggott branch and I was royally screwed there. It was the plant manager its been to long ago I dont remember his name. I needed medical leave and talked with him in advance. I told him the situation and I was to be off a week he said no problem you just take off and dont worry about your job. I told him the date I would return to work he said ok see you then. When I returned it was told to me I was not employed there anymore as I failed to call in everday I was out. I believe the fat piece of crap was Byron Midkiff but cant remember. There wasnt anything I could do. They failed to tell me before leaving I had to call in everyday and since I was on medical leave with prior notification that I didnt have anything to worry about well ....

My dad, Ricky Vaughn, worked at darling for 30 years. He was forced to retire due to health reasons. While he was there numerous people with high seniority were forced to retire, or fired. From what I can tell, they treat the majority of their employees like crap. All he got when he retired was a cheap ass watch and a cake. He really liked the people he worked with. I think that was about the only thing that kept him going back to work everyday. As far as the Piggott plant...my step dad works there and it's who's butt you kiss and how hard that determines how far you go.

the fact that no body in manangement form darling has bothered to respond speaks volumns...these things are obviously true or someone would attempt to set the record straight..they cant respond because the facts are the facts they are all crooked and two faced..Im sure as time goes by there will be of these factual stories posted..all in due time they will have to face the music over their mistreatment of their associates and their cook'n of the books...its amazing that the real bosses in chicago also turn their heads to situation..

I assume you refer to Robert Jean?...This man is a convicted felon if I read the article correctly...It has been a policy at L A Darling for years that they DO NOT hire convicted felons..Rest assured they wouldnt hire you or I if we were convicted felons..peiord ! Not only a convicted felon I guess in one since of the word he is a sex offender..a school teacher/ coach having sex with a student..what can be said..Surely the higher -ups in Darling are not aware of this ...but maybe they should be ??
