Ever have someone playing loud music that rattles your windows or worse, knocks stuff off the walls? If you haven't you probably haven't experienced the 911 call where they police say "Were sorry, but there's nothing we can do unless it's between the hours of 10pm and 6am."

I'm not talking about the occasional loud music someone may play, but day after day it gets really annoying, and there's nothing we can legally do to stop it. I do not think this is right, we should not have to live with headaches every day because of it.

Some people work nights and have to sleep during the day, and when the windows are vibrating from loud music, that's not easy. There should something people can do!

It could be that they get a ticket after a certain number of complaints from a certain address, but there needs to be something people can do.

That's not what they've told us, they won't even come unless its after 10pm. Next time my windows are rattling because of it and I'm trying to study I just might keep calling. But like someone else said, they'd just deny it unless the cops pulled up when they have it up...

After posting this I was talking to a friend and joked that if we had money to invest in concert style speakers set them up thorugh the night around their property and at 6:01 turn the volume all way up, insert ear plugs and hit the power button and run! xD

Might do as Good Idea said and go to the city council and talk to them about never being able to get a police officer out when they are glaring the music like it was WoodStock...

Have you knocked on your neighbor's door to let him know that his loud music is disturbing you, and ask him to turn it down?

I live outside the city limits. I called about the noise from 3 houses down. Still having a party at 1:00 in the morning. It was shaking my windows. The county police were there withing 20 minutes. They were told the music had to be turned down each night by 10:00 p.m. Never had the problem again. The funny part was the police had been sitting trying to figure out were it was coming from. Sound travels when your out in the open like us. Good luck.

I guess the whole street had started calling in to complain, I was told the cops showed up not once, but three times the week I posted this. Now that I think about it, they not only stopped playing it all day, I don't recall hearing it any lately...

Turned out the people next door were installing stereo's for people, which I don't have a problem with because we could all use extra money now days. Blasting them to test them is uncalled for though. At least it's taken care of.

I remember living out of town like that, so quite that even though we were almost 10 miles from highway 49 we could still hear traffic late at night. Would have been kinda funny to see them trying to figure out where the sound was coming from, but bet it ticked them off more.

We had a similar problem with our neighbors recently. The Sunday night before last, they cranked their stereo up from 1 a.m. til 4 a.m. We called them repeatedly but the neighbors never answered their phone, so we left polite-as-possible messages. We went over and knocked on their door and rang their doorbell but they never answered. We contemplated calling the police, but there was a marijuana smell coming from the house and we didn't want to get them in trouble- they'd have known it was us who called the police since we left the phone messages already. We won't hesitate to call the police if it happens again. I think calling the police to enforce noise ordinances is fine, but not a 911 worthy call. 911 is for emergencies; please look up the police number for non-emergencies.

I thought I was the only one who does'nt care for loud music. I'm glad to hear that there are more people here in Paragould who appreciate having a quiet and peaceful day.

What the law stats is the between the hours of 10pm to 6am, it is refered to as a quiet time, after 6am you may turn up your music as loud as you can, if someone does call 911 or non emergency be prepared to get a ticket or even jail for false dialing 911, I sdee it all the time, if you want to live without no noise, go out in the middle of nowhere or even to a island, its not up to you, its up to us, dont call the police if someone is blaring there music during the day, because you will either get sued or even go to jail.

and the law also says that if the music is offensive then there is a legal right to have it turned down.

Maybe not a 911 call, but I should not have to put up with the music blasting all day, neither should others. Some people work nights and need sleep during the day, people need sleep or they snap. I myself do study during the day as I have online college courses, and I also do Web Design the rest of the day. People need to be able to think, not just between 10pm and 6am.

By the way sir, if I call 911 because the windows are shaking due to the music, that IS and emergency. My windows break in this weather I'm a popsicle!

Right! People need to have the right to a peaceful day without blaring music.
