I have a booth at a local flea mkt. I am a single mother and this is my only income. I make anywhere from $300 to $500 a week. I get my stuff to sell from ebay, friends, garage sales, and devote my time to cleaning them up for sale.

That is awesome and something I would love to be able to do! Did you just learn by trial and error what sold best for you? Would you give any pointers on things that would sell well or things you have had good luck with? I really appreciate your feedback!

Clothes sell really good, but usually just name brand. A lot of times ebay has a big lot of clothes for one price. I buy them and then price them individually. I have seen clothes just thrown in booths than don't sell good. I make sure I wash them, iron if needed, and hang on hangers. I also spend a lot of time organizing my booth. The best thing to do is go to some flea markets and look at what other people have to sell. In my opinion all the flea markets are good ( in their own way) My booth is at Triple T Pawn and Flea Mrkt. Very nice and clean. I have had a booth since they opened. My first booth was at 412 Flea Mkt and I liked it there also.

Good luck to you, if you decide to get a booth.

But do you need a small business license and do you turn it in to the IRS?

Is there any good wholesale websites that you can order from on the internet? Also how much are the booth rentals at the different places around town?

I circled the flea markets today and found some good things. I still like the big top and the one in the old harold morgan building the best. The one at big top had alot of new items. Of course there was used items too.

what about buying wholesale. Do you have to have a tax number?

You dont have to have a tax number on most websites. I would avoid getting little items b/c they get stolen alot.Thats 1 of the bad things about having a booth, but you still make money whether things get stolen or not as long as you put work into it. The best things is to hit the yard sales and get brand name clothes for almost nothing..Or anything, cause its hot and most ppl just wanna quit having the yard sale. And stock up on things for the winter when there arent any yard sales. One more thing youre house gets crowded quik!!!LOL

I have been doing pretty good. I have better weeks and then, I have a few off weeks, but I have been sick and it threw me behind. I like it there cause it looks nice and clean and I do have to say that place does stay busy. You can put in some of your kids clothes and ladies. No matter what you bring in it will sell if you have it reasonable priced. People are shopping for back to school clothes at a good price cause of job lost or just do not have the money. I do what I do to help others to be to afford something nice and still make some off it. You can do it but you will just have to shop around at some of the yard sales. I work several hours and a family at home and do this too. You can do it just check other booths out. I do not care to give you any advice or help if you need it. Now days everyone needs to work together instead of against each other to make it in this world! Good Luck!

Location is the most important thing for a flea market. They are so many in Paragould now.Weekends are great, so pick one that's open on Sundays(biggest day). Also they need to be kept clean and full.It is worth it.Years ago I had one at Farville(Fartville, lol).I never done well there. The one I have now does good in Paragould.

Is the new flea market, The Big Top, worth the extra cost in booth rent? Do people do better in this one than the others? I have only been there once but it seems like they had quite a few people there. I have called around and they are the most expensive, but maybe it's worth it if they have more people, therefore more sales. Does anyone have a booth that would give me advice?

I have a booth at the big top and Triple T. I sell TONS more at Triple T and I am thinking of closing mine at big top. I love both places, and both are very busy. I just think furniture sells better at Triple T and that is what I have most of. I will definately still shop both. My biggest days of sales are on Sat. and Sun. and it just seems like the ones on 412 do better.

Good luck to you and I hope this helps. Like I said, I am not trying to down any of them because I do shop them all. I am just stating my opionion from a renters point of view. I have heard a lot of complaints about the booth rental being to high at big top.

Its on the East side of town on Hwy 412. Its in the old unemployment building. In the same parking lot as Hays-East. One reason I think they do a lot more business is because it is a pawn shop AND a flea market.
