the pound or paws is suffering neither one does a whole lot to advertise adoptions or to work with rescues i worked for paws and didn't stay long because i couldn't take it that people would have to surrender their beloved animals for what ever reason and the staff at paws would accept their donations of money food and toys you name it promise to find the animals homes and by the close of buisness put them to sleep and the girl kristy from dr.copelands office who was putting them to sleep doesn't even have a license to do so and the way the puppies cry she doesn't need to ever have a license to do it

Yeah, and the Greene County Animal Farm claims to be no kill, but they truly are not. They do not take in every animal that comes in. They usually send them to another shelter that puts them down, which makes the Animal Farm a kill shelter.

Does paws really put animals to sleep????? This is awful. I know one time I found a dog at the side of the road with no collar and in pretty rough shape. I picked him up, put him in my car, fed him, and took him to paws. I paid a $30 donation for someone else's dog and I would like to think that he found a good home. He might have been better off if I had left him on the road.

yes more than you can imagine everyday you can get a copy of their flyer paw prints and it gives you their stats like 300 taken in 20 adopted 2 sent to rescue so where do the others go in a freezer until they get to the land fill

Dorinda at the Greene County Humane Society is the one that puts them to sleep. If you drive by her house you will notice only a small fenced in yard. She usually ends of calling the pound. Paws does put animals to sleep. Sometimes if the animal is sick but most of the time they are put to sleep when they are brought in with no record from their vets. They refuse to add on to their shelter, they would rather put them to sleep. The Greene County Animal Farm is a no kill shelter. They only put a dog to sleep if it is very aggressive or very sick and would suffer. I know Brenda and she is not a horder. She is very picky about who she adopts her animals. The volunteers there do home checks to make sure the pets are going to a good home. I know all of this to be true. I have helped with adoptions and they are all loving volunteers. The word Volunteers means to volunteer your time without expecting any money or favors in return. If you are looking for a good animal, look at the Greene County Animal Farm.

i also know brenda and she is a horder if she would get the animals she rescues spayed or neutered she wouldn't have so many pups and kittens she has simply bitten off more than she can chew and is only contributing to the animal over population there is another guy that has a no kill clay county animal rescue i think his name is trent and i can he holds his adoptions at an actual vet clinic not a flea market like brenda

They hold there adoptions at Wal-Mart, Petco and sometimes the flea market. The shelter is running low on food for all the animals. Trust me, those animals are spayed and neutered. I have picked up many of them from the vet for her. If Greene County were a more giving County then they could help the shelter out. I know last year alone, a friend of mine paid $3,000 out of her own pocket to treat animals with heartworms and to get them spayed or neutered and their shots. I know Brenda has personally taken blankets off of her own bed to take out to the animals to sleep on. I am not gonna say everything that she does is right but they are a no kill shelter and I am sure that the pups and kittens that you see are from animals that were dropped off while pregnant.

I picked up a puppy at Randolph Co. Animal Shelter a few weeks ago. There were about 30 in the pound, it was really sad, everyone of them seem to be saying "take me home with you!"

I know that when Judy was at Paws she tried to do alot to help the animals to find homes. Now I have seen and heard things that digust me. I was in there one day when this woman brought in two dogs for surrender. Her mother-n-law was just put in a nursing home and she could not take the dogs with her back to Florida. One was a 13year old sharpa and the other was a 3year old lapso alspa. I personally was in there with my children and I petted the dogs. I heard the lady say not to worry we will find them good homes. Then the next day I went in and found out the lapsa had been adpopted and the sharpa had been uthanized because it was to old to be adopted. Nothing at all was wrong with it. Instead of notifying the shrapa rescue group they killlled it. I was ferious. I also was there one day when a little yorkie came in with eye problems and heartworms. Instead of trying to treat it and posting it on the internet with a rescue group they put it to sleep. I am applolled at treatment that they use. I truthfully think that we need animal police to check them out.

The Animal Farm is a KILL SHELTER. You cannot say they are since they do not take every animal in. They send them elsewhere to be euthanized which makes the A KILL SHELTER. There is no such thing as a no kill shelter. Sometimes the dogs are better off at the rainbow bridge, than suffering while waiting for someone to adopt them. I personally would not want to see a dog suffer. Heartworms cause a lot of damage to the heart and lungs when they have a lot of them. They put them to sleep so that someone doesn't adopt a dog that dies a week or so later from heart failure. It's not fair to the new owner's or the dog to adopt a sick or even elderly dog. Elderly dogs can be set in their ways and not be able to coop with a new environment.

They have held adoptions at Wal-Mart before and it has been awhile. They get more help from Jonesboro actually. They have had adoptions on the corner of Race and Stadium, at a farm supply place and also at Orschlin's.(i know that is not spelled correctly).
They are a No Kill Shelter. There have been dogs there for years. Some people just don't wanna adopt them. They treat them all for heartworms and spay and neuter them also. If they do happen to call Paws, maybe because they have no room for anymore animals, they are not calling with the intention on Paws killing them. They also take some of the dogs to rescue shelters. I personally took a Golden Retriever to the rescue shelter in Memphis. It was adopted soon and they sent a pic of how beautiful and happy he was.
It's a good thing that Wanda and Paws aren't affiliated with GCAF, they would want to kill all of the dogs.

There is trully no such thing as a no kill shelter. I bet they euthanize dogs with parvo or other deadly disease. If not they would have no dogs there. The animal farm is a hoarder, and the places smells so bad. She sends them elsewhere knowing good and well that they might be euthanized. So she is not a no kill shelter. The dogs that have been there forever have no life, and that is not a life a dog should have. They should have a life with a good family, if that is not an option they should go to the Rainbow Bridge. It is not right for a dog to have to stay at a shelter for years that is suffering from heartworms. That is CRUEL. Especially when they are kept outside. I would not want my dogs to live at a shelter like that. I would hope someone would have the heart to have them euthanized so we could meet again at the Rainbow Bridge. I would hate for them to SUFFER at the Animal Farm.

If an animal is suffering and is untreatable, they do put them down. But they treat all the animals that have heartworms. My sister has 9 dogs. Some are up for adoption but there are just some dogs that people won't adopt. Why put a dog down just because it can't find a home? They have had to turn away a FEW animals because of lack of space. The Animal Farm is a great place.

Where is the GCAF located? And are they open only certain times?

I have taken stray animals to Paws before.
It breaks my heart to know that they put them to sleep.
I would be just as well off tying a chain with a boulder around their necks and throwing them in the river.
