If she has not had a cig in 3 days then that means she was smoking while pregnant. Seems like she is already a bad mother. She should listen to Sr Becton. I will pray that the baby is ok since it has had to indure 9 months of its Momma putting smoke into its little lungs!!!

or maybe she had a csection, your in the hostpital for 4 days when you get one done.
judgemental as*holes!
and if hes really concerned and cares for babies that much, then why wont he take patients in right away?
they have to be on medicaid to even book an appt. and that takes a while to get. it took me 5 months. didnt see a doctor till i was 5 months pregnant. thats messed up. as soon as you find out your pregnant you need your prenatal care asap.

Hate to tell ya Sunshine, but it's not his responsibility to take care you because you were irresponsible and became knocked up without insurance. Life isn't a free ride regardless of what welfare mom's think.

Funny....I work full time. Sometimes I work 2 jobs. There's this thing called a job.....and when you work at a job, then you make money. And when you make money, then you can pay for insurance. And then you don't have to wait 5 months to get your Medicaid that I'm paying for. Get off your bum and get a JOB!!!!

Smoking cigs during pregnancy causes low birth rate, which can cause long term problems for the baby. Dr. Becton works very long hours and for someone to have to go outside to smoke is almost disrespectful not to mention he knows what it is doing to the unborn child. He sees that and pregnant women's drug screens light up like a Christmas Tree every single day. And to the person complaining about not scheduling appointments until the Medicaid is active, do you go to the grocery store and get your groceries for free?? Nope so why should you get prenatal care for free?? His office does not back bill on Medicaid so he would not get paid for the visits until you get your government paid services!!! Get a clue!!!

Oh I get the point! You are mad because he called her out!!! I get mad when I'm called out on something too. Maybe he did not handle it right, but when he comes to see his patient and they are outside smoking it probably strikes a nerve.

I am a mother. If I had a pregnant daughter that smoked, the dressing down from her dr. would be so much nicer than I would give. You can bet I would be helping the dr. not taking up for my daughter. If she is old enough to be pregnant, she is old enough to protect her child in every way possible, including preparing for a healthy child long before becoming pregnant. I personally think that nicotine should be treated like any other drug. Children are born with addictive habits forced on them before even coming into this world then forced to live with it until they are adults and can get away from it. Unfortunately by then, nicotine is so addictive they can't leave it alone. Such a shame for a defensive child.

yes i get my groceries for free, thats what we call food stamps and WIC (;

also he wont take a friend of mine in cause shes not on insurance. pretty messed up. i mean how much does a visit cost anyways. when i was pregnant i called alot of doctors around here before i got my insurance, the first thing they ask "what insurance you on?" then id tell them im not on insurance. then they reply "go to the health department and get on insurance then call back to make an appointment." so i guess it wouldnt matter if you had a job or not. and i was pregnant a year ago.

To answer your question on how much it cost is $1650 and you have to pay that by your 7th month check up. And that's if you have insurance other then medicaid. I had a nurse from Dr. Becton's office tell me to help to go get medicaid on top of it to help, and it only took me a month to get my medicaid.

If a person can't afford groceries without government assistance, than they can't afford a child and shouldn't get pregnant to begin with. Do people have no self respect for anyone, even their own defenseless children? Children deserve better in life than handouts and the shame of living in that environment. And shame and embarrassment it is for them all of their lives. If people are too lazy to work and make a living, they're too lazy to properly care for a child and If you can afford the expense of a computer, you can afford to buy your own food and work to make your own money instead of taking other peoples hard earned money.

No child wants to be make feel inferior to other children, or wear others throw away clothes, or go hungry and it's embarrassing for them to get free lunches at school, and be looked at and be treated like they don't belong. Why would anyone want to do that to another person? Circumstances beyond our control do happen, but that's different than just not trying to be a responsible person or parent.

I love children and think they are so wonderful, but if we couldn't afford to take care of them and give them a respectable life, we would never have had them to begin with. That means jobs, homes, dependable vehicles, insurance and money for security. Those are just the basic things each person should have before even considering bringing a child into this world. Even then unexpected things come up. And if a parent doesn't have the self control to keep away from drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, trash talk etc. then they don't have the self control and discipline it takes to raise a child.

Doctors see children born all the time with so many things wrong with them that could be easily prevented. Google smoking and see what the dangers are that been put upon this infant. Talk to someone who lost a loved one to cancer because of second hand smoke. Listen to the cries of an infant or ask a young child what it's like to live with the pain and agony that comes along with it. Ask a parent what it was like when they found their baby dead because of SIDS. Yes, something as simple as smoking pregnant and second hand smoke as well does all of these things and more.

wow all these comments are ridiculous. if you smoke menthol, the doctors tell you not to quit fast because it will effect your heart and give you dangerous side affects.
and if she had the baby and wanted to smoke a cig, she can let her fu*king be. Gosh immature people.
this lady was just trying to vent, don't need to be rude to her. that's crazy!

as for the lady that wrote this i totally agree with you that the doctor is an a$$hole.
i went there, and then moved three hours away and the nurses kept calling me harassing me telling me that i cant see another doctor!! I told them yes i can and i will i live 3 hours away, i am getting a local doctor, they were so mad and screamed at me for no reason.

the only reason people think dr becton is a good doctor is because he doesn't have any other competion in paragould.
