The Chateau is not a nursing home, nor is it there to serve the community that relies on Medicare to survive. It costs in the neighborhood of 3 grand a month. At those prices it's not the place for everyone.. Suck it up

Can you blame the rich for not wanting to spend their final years with people they have always considered beneath them? There will be time for that when they have to go to a nursing home. Yes, they did take the money that was supposed to be used to build private rooms. When we went to the men's health fair one of the booths was selling $10 chances on a laptop. The money was to go in a fund toward building private rooms. I wonder where it really went.

I know exactly what you mean. I wanted a new Mercedes but they wouldn't sell me one. I offered them 32,000 but they wouldn't sell it to me. Those bastards told me they wanted 91,000. I hope they rot on hell.

Dont worry St Bernards will end up owning it and the hospital. You dont fire 5 good doctors and not replace them and expect people to be loyal to their local hospital when u can get much better services 20 miles away. Chateau was a joke to start with. I wont reveal names but Hospital management lied to the Hospital board about the finances and got them to build the Chateau. It is losing 60k a month from it. How long do u think they will last? The person over the building didnt know anything bout building anything and it shows.

If they got a hud taxpayer loan, and I qualify for hud why cant I live there, I understand it is a nonprofit org, paid for by the hosp, foundation, so why can the rich only live there, again the rich have control of everything.

I have a aunt that lives at chateau, it is a wonderful classy place to live, I cant believe that you would want hud trash to live there, it would look like pecan grove in one month, just think about it.

The Chateau is a very nice place, but generalizing people on hud as trash is uncalled for. All you are doing is exhibiting your moronic mentality. This makes you "trash".

I really wanted to start using the new NEA hospital when it opens but all my doctors are with Methodist, affiliated with St Bernards which really puts me in a decission making mode I don't want to be in.

No, it makes that person non-politically correct in her statement, but not necessarily wrong.

You know what politically correct is don't you? That is not calling a mom with 5 kids and pregnant, on government assistance and living off the government a welfare sow?

Or calling the guy who goes to a different doctor every week for pain pills and can't work because of his bad back that doesn't stop him from doing anything else a deadbeat doper?

Yes..it's wrong. Generalizing any "social class" of people is wrong. That would be like labelling those who aren't in financial distress as self-righteous, egotistical, prententious a s sholes.

Oh, so pointing out that people who drop out of high school, start having babies when their teenagers they can't afford, continue having them knowing they can't afford to pay for their health care, food or housing without free loading off Uncle Sam is not allowed?

I'm not rich, I've doing okay, but I know what it's like not to have $10.00 left over at the end of the week, but ya know what, I never went on assistance, HUD or food stamps. I found another part time making minimum wage I hated and worked my way through college.

Life is about choices, it's not up to the rest of us to pay for those who choose to ruin their lives.

I completely agree it's not up to the rest of society to pay the way for those who are capable, but unwilling to help themselves. But, not all people who are receiving assistance are freeloaders. There are people who have no other choice. My father died when my siblings and I were very young, leaving my mother to care for 4 small children. For several years my mother worked many low paying jobs trying to make ends meet and it still wasn't enough. If not for government assistance, there would have been many nights we would have gone hungry. Circumstances are different for different people, and it is egregious to assume all welfare recipients are trash. This mentality nothing but spread intolerance for those who actually need assistance.
