Nobody wants him to be Secretary of Defense. Nobody. Not even the Obama toadies of the Washington Post.

OK, maybe a few Iranian mullahs and Michael Moore (I apologize to the Iranians for any implied connections), but nobody in America wants the Nebraska Republican to be our next Sec/Def.

Forget Sen. Hagel’s insulting comments about the “Jewish lobby.” Forget that he was one of a handful of US Senators who refused to sign a letter asking the EU to acknowledge Hezbollah as a terrorist organization. Forget that he believes Hamas is a legitimate “partner for peace,” even as Hamas calls for the destruction of Israel, or his opposition to sanctions against Iran.

Even forget his publicly stated claim that the United States sent soldiers into Iraq to die in a “war for oil.”(Hey, Sen. Genius–if Iraq was a “war for oil”…WHERE’S OUR OIL?)

The problem isn’t that Sen. Hagel is regarded by the senators and staff who worked with him as an arrogant as-swi-pe. There are plenty of unpleasant jerks who are also accomplished and successful.

And I haven’t even mentioned his gay-bashing…

The real problem with Chuck Hagel is that he is neither. As Bill Kristol pointed out for the Weekly Standard:

His backers can cite no significant legislation for which Hagel was responsible in his two terms in the Senate. They can quote no memorable speeches that Hagel delivered and can cite no profound passages from the book he authored. They can summarize no perceptive Hagelian analysis of defense or foreign policy, and can appeal to no acts of management or leadership by the man they’d have as our next secretary of defense.
The fact is that those legislative achievements, intellectual insights, or management triumphs don’t exist. A long and comprehensive history of the Senate during Chuck Hagel’s tenure there could be written that would barely mention him. A long and comprehensive account of American foreign and defense policy in the last thirty years would hardly note his existence.

Which begs the question: Why is President Obama picking him? It’s certainly not a expression of bipartisanship. It’s doubtful Hagel will get a single Republican vote.(Republicans, unlike Democrats, cannot be counted on straight, party-line votes for fellow members) And Hagel hardly has a national following outside the Michael Moore/Code Pink crowd.

So why? One theory is that this is the real President Obama– far-Left, anti-Israel, pacifist in his world view. This is, the argument goes, Obama unleashed.

Maybe. But there are other nominees who share the same, fundamental “weak America = better world” philosophy, yet are free of the borderline anti-Semitic baggage.
I believe the reason President Obama is pushing this pick is because he knows it means a fight. And the only thing President Obama knows how to do is fight.

Fighting is easier than leading. Fighting means opposing things–like evil Republicans who wanted to take money from the middle class and give it to rich people–as opposed to proposing actual solutions, like Obama’s awful “Fiscal Cliff” deal that did nothing to fix problems but raised taxes on 77 percent of Americans.

Who wants to talk about THAT? Not Obama. So he’ll distract his supporters by sending an unacceptable nominee to the US Senate, knowing that people who actually care about America’s defense and our allies abroad will be forced to fight it. Then Obama will point at them and bemoan the “toxic atmosphere in Washington.”

This is the petty, hyper-partisan, policy-inept president we’ve had the past four years. Looks like he’s sticking around for the next four, too.

I have had first hand experience with assault weapons and I know what they can do to a human body, I had a buddy whose had was completely shattered not 5 feet away from me decades ago in a forsaken war, the experience of being showered with blood, brains and shreds of bones still haunts me to this day...

So the last thing we need in this country is these crazy wackos running around with AK47's and M16's...

If the morons want to play with high powered weapons then let the cowards join the military and do their shooting where their targets shoot back at them....

Now tell me Grumpy………How is a AR shooting a 22. Cal bullet weighing 55 to 70 grains more powerful than my
30/06
300 win mag
300 super win mag
7mm mag
30/06 AI
375 H&H
600 nitro
700 nitro
All hunting rifles bolt action…………….LOL

Ps my 700 nitro can shoot a 1300 grain bullet compared to the ARs 55 grain bullet.
Even a AK is a smaller bullet than a 30/06…………….ROTFLMAO

I dont know about you but grumpy has been caught telling lie after lie about her "military service"

Even a moron that was in the military would know that most hunting rifles are far more powerful then the M-16/AR that they want to ban......

Heck I even have hunting rifles more powerful than my M107 BAR 50 cal

So the fool proved he was never in the service......My 9 year old knows more than him about guns....

You are a proven liar and I post your lies every day

Anyone that has been in the military knows the AR is one of the smallest guns ever used for hunting
So once again you are caught in a lie

Only less than 70 percent of murders involves a firearm of any type and hand guns are the preferred method of murder not assault weapons

Assault rifles are less than 20 percent of all murders

More children die every year from the food their mom feeds them than all children murdered by all methods

But morons liberals don't care about that they only care about what kills less than 20 percent of all murdered people

I don't know what military you were in, but in the Marines we used our M16 against the reds, we did not used them to go hunting for ducks....so you caught yourself in a lie...

Only less than 70% you mean 69%...???

Fact is that in the US roughly 1000 people per month get blown away by firearms and that does not include all those wounded by firearms...

20% of people killed by assault rifles works out to roughly 200 people per month blown away by AR's

You are not only a fracken liar you are also a conservative hypocrite who is against a woman's right to choose but wants some idiot to have the capability of blowing her born kids away...

Yes you clim that but you also claim that a m-16 is more powerful than a hunting rifle..........LOL

Please post a link to show where I said anything about hunting ducks..........LOL
I can tell you it is a very good rifle for hunting small game and deer.
Compared to the mini 14 the number one RANCH rifle in the world the AR has these advantages...
Lighter in weight
Handle for easy cary
Attachment for a bi pod
Slide rail system for quick changing a scope and ability to use the open sites or the scope.

Diabetes alone kills 46 million people per year world wide...

In 2006 diabetes killed more people than all murders over 72k people
99 percent is preventable....
