Jail phone calls

Has anyone ever had a loved one in jail & had to pay for the calls that the jail charges? The minimum charge is $25. There is a fee added to this of 6.95,total $31.95. Then when your loved one calls, there is a connection fee of $2.50 just to connect you to them. You are then charged .25 per minute. So a 15 min call costs you $6.25 So, you can have 4 calls for your $31.95. You may also charge your credit card for $50.00 with the same charges.$56.95 + the above charges. Securus has a monopoly at the Oroville Jail. It is considered a long distance call, although it is about 13 miles. Then on top of this the public defenders are either being jailed for DUI's, or some are in drug rehab. Our system is really screwed up. Soooooo, keep your noses clean, anything less than murder can keep you in jail for a year.
