These two guys pulled a stupid stunt. Where was their thinking? If they knew the fire was smoldering, why didn't they stop & put it out? They said they thought the tarp would contain the fire. Duh. That's all we need is for someone to start another fire like last year. They should be fined for neglect. People just don't use their heads. This could have been serious.

Can't the idiot be fined for stupidity? Seriously, I think the guy should have to pay a penalty. At minimum the police should have determined if he was a licensed contractor, and if not, turn him into the state's licensing board. The jerk endangered the entire town.

OK folks, lets make this even better. The men in the truck told 2 different paradise dancers that the fire started because they flicked a lit cigarette out the window while driving. Theres a responsible contractor for you. What really sucks is that so many concientious honest intelligent contractors are out there out of work and this irresponsible white trash (who else would flick a lit cigarette out a window) idiot gets the job.

"Magalia Resident" posted a comment on may 16th that seems kind of harsh. Doesn't sound like a flicked cigarette would even be the cause. It was flicked out of the window, flew way up into the trailer, and then ignited all the crap in the trailer? Seriously. Thank goodness no one was hurt. The fireman caught up to the men and found that they had pulled over and were calling for help and were trying to put it out themselves and take responsibility - sounds like a freak accident and they were caught up in it. They don't appear to be white trash, just had some bad luck today. Hopefully they will keep their cell phones charged and ready for emergencies in the future.

Were you here for the fires last year? If so you wouldnt call me harsh for putting this out here. Seriously, thats exactly what they said happened and ofcourse it makes sense. They flicked the lit cig out, it landed in the pile somehow and festered for the whole drive from Magalia. And as far as being responsible? They were more likely trying to get it out before the firemen got there so they could avoid possible legal ramifications. They absolutely told 2 people at the building, before the engines came and while they were freaking out about how to put it out that they flicked the cigarette. The people they told were responsible adults and would back up their statement if it came down to it so the "contractor" better pray this gets swept under the rug. And if it does, I hope to hell they learned something about cigarette despensing safety.

Yeah i was the one who was there and i just wanna say it wasn't my fault it was my dumb ass boss who did it i was cutting metal and it got caught in the insulation. HE loaded it up and packed a bunch of crap on top of it. HE was the one that told me not to water it down because it would add weight to the load. And he didn't want to pay the fee at the dump for it. It was pure neglect on his part and his contractors license should be taken away. I would not want any thing like the fires that took place that year to happen again. And whoever said it started from a cigarette is downright stupid and need to keep their mind from wandering because its too small to be on its own. sorry again. blame it on my boss. Dude that was there.
