so why are the firefighters a big authority on trees falling. If i checked it out it probably has somthing to do with the earth energies. It is easy to check that out if your a dowser not a fire fighter sheese.

You are giving a guess without even inspecting the trees. Are you an authority? Yet you criticize the firefighters who were present at the site due to an emergency response and were able to inspect the tree?

The reporter stated they guessed. That doesn't make them authorities.

He's just a New Yorker. This time of year the oaks are pulling lots of water in.The branches get heavy and the weak ones break off.Happens every year.

I live a couple of houses away and heard what I thought was a dump truck dumping large rocks. Then look out my window and see a tree on my neighbors house. Glad everyone is OK.

"Firefighters there guessed a thick blanket of oak around the tree trunk weakened it. "

WTF????

Nothing in this article makes any sense. Why can't the Post proofread anything? This is why I won't subscribe to this sorry excuse for a newspaper.

You're lucky there's a Post at all. Before Media News procured it and made it the redheaded stepchild of the ER, they had proofreaders. Now, there are about five people in the office at a time--far different from the robust organization of, say, 10 years ago.

I suspect you won't have a Post to complain about for much longer.

Unfortunately with this recession I think you are right and thats too bad. I like reading the post, grammatical errors and all, I also think they are the closest to the right temp so I generally go by their weather report. Hopefully things will pick up (optomistic here) and this wont be an "Issue" (sorry, had to do it).

Oak tree branches fall regularly in my neighborhood of maple park dr. That's what they do. Winter time they uproot and summer time big branches break off do to weight of moisture in branches. In spring and fall their are the branches breaking due to expansion and contraction from extreme change in temperature from hot days to cold nights. Had two huge branches break tonight in my neighbors yard behind me and next door to me only 30 minutes apart. Structure damage has been done but everyone is ok. These trees were only 40 feet apart. Healthy. Weird. I'm staying inside tonight.
