It's a speedway out here on Valley View Drive and linked streets. It's great that the police patrol but I think it's time to ticket speeders. This used to be a quiet neighborhood with a speed limit of 25. Now it's 35 (the city gets additional funding for some reason) and most people do at least 40. Wealthy folks at the end of the roads out here have little regard for those who live along their route home, they're in a rush to get home. Last night some dimbulb squealed his tires so loud that it frightened our kids, inside our home. Slow down and think of the neighborhood!

"Cara Smith, 19, also of Paradise, who police report "identified" as the driver of the vehicle, was charged with vehicular manslaughter and felony driving under the influence of intoxicants."

"Intoxicants", what exactly were these intoxicants they found at the scene? I assume they are indicating something other than alcohol. It would be nice to know what she was using, especially because someone was killed.

What a sad story...

Lives and families scarred for life...

One can't rush to judgement, but I hope her body chemistry had nothing to do with the crash...

My best wishes to the people hurt by this incident and their families also...
just awful

OMG I live on Valley View not too far down from Oliver and I didn't hear a thing last night. This is a horrible story, there have been way too many local incidents of fatalities recently due to drunk driving in Butte County! And yes, there is a HUGE problem with speeding on Valley View, I live about a 1/4 mile down from Oliver ON Valley View and I am not lying when I say people travel 50-60 miles down this road at times. The police need to do soemthing about it before someone is hurt or killed. There are a lot of chilren in this area. And yes, it is alot of the "nicer" expensive vehicles that speed. I am starting to recognize the major offenders and I will be reporting them!

While you are at it, send some cops out to Honey Run and Centerville Rd. I swear the rich lifers out there think those roads are their own personal race track. Speed limit? Might as well be 55 MPH the whole way through.

Figures. Bunch of pathetic commuters running away from the dump called Chico.

A 40 year old with a bunch of kids? What's that all about? Em?

Do seat belts save lives... food for thought. 19 year old under the influence of intoxicants?

We should all know by now not to believe everything we hear or read! Especially if it comes from the Paradise Post....... The story is so fresh of course the details are not yet printed. Everyone wants to focus on the fact that a 40 year old man is with a bunch of teenagers. Reports have only stated one person in the car was under the age of 18, what it doesn't say is some of the people in the car are family.

No one knows yet if Cara was even under the influence of a controlled substance or if it is a prescribed medication. Can we be more saddened by the fact a man has lost his life and others are fighting for theirs?

Must we always jump to the worst conclusion possible before the facts are out. Instead of passing judgment on others we should all be praying that 2 young men pull through what is going to be a rough road ahead.

To all the families and friends involved, MY prayers are with you.

If this little twit was "high" on something she should be sent to prison for about the next 20 years so she can grow a brain!Start jailing these lame brains and get them off the roads.

This is a very tragic event. Use this tragedy to educate your kids if you have young drivers in your family. Let it be a reminder for them to slow down and drive responsibly and sober only.
My prayers go out to all affected by this

As much as I hate DUI drivers, in all honesty, looking at Robert Faulkner's record, no one's going to miss this guy.

I agree with you that the spoiled rich jerks drive to fast on honey run and centerville roads. They have ruined the scenic canyon by over development. I can't stand to look at that over built rock mansion resort next to the bridge along butte creek and what about all those rich self righteous pompous asses driving to their catered weddings and receptions. Butte canyon is officially ruined forever thanks to the rich speeding arrogant drivers.

How can you sit there and criticize a man who no longer has a life while you sit around living yours. You have no idea of what exactly happened in the situation and have no right to say he was drinking with them when it doesn't even say she was a drunk driver it says intoxicated and it also doesn't say he was involved in any of the drugs or alcohol that was consumed. Therefore your criticism shouldn't be taken into consideration by anyone. For all you know one of the girls names was not mentioned and could have been in relation to the man who lost his life.

To bobby may you rest in peace, now you can be with your father. Suck that first it was Bob at the beginning of this year and now you to loose your life.it isn't the best of years for the Faulkner family but all anyone can do it have hope.

Funny how family members try to BS us by distorting the facts. Police don't arrest people for vehicular maslaughter because a tire blew.

"......it says intoxicated and it also doesn't say he was involved in any of the drugs or alcohol that was consumed." He has prior convictions for drugs. I'm betting he contributed.

Well mister jon you have no room to point finger and put the blame on anyone when you weren't there and bobby wouldn't have put the blame on anyone but himself so why don't you just go and stop making comment on something you know nothing about.
You're right. I wasn't there. Neither was you :)
