Texas Town Worried by Polygamist

There are 26 comments on the The Associated Press story from May 22, 2007, titled Texas Town Worried by Polygamist . In it, The Associated Press reports that:

“There has been plenty of negative publicity regarding my beliefs which I would hope the honest in heart can see through”

Samuel Fischer would appear to be just what's needed most in this withering Texas Panhandle town of about 2,000.

A successful cabinet maker with a thriving business in Utah, he hopes to move the operation here, bringing with it as many as 100 jobs and perhaps eventually an influx of residents.

Many here, however, say Fischer is no godsend, and the economic boost he could provide their community is not worth the cost.

Fischer is a polygamist, a member of the Fundamentalist Church of Latter Day Saints, a renegade offshoot of the Mormon Church. The sect's leader, Warren Jeffs, is awaiting trial on charges he arranged marriages between men and underage girls. Read more

What if this 53-year-old starts dating your under-age daughter... would you still consider him no threat to your family then?

If he starts dating your underage daughter then call the cops. From what I've seen on NBC, and their pedophile sting operations, you should probably worry more about the monogmist pedophiles. They seem to make up the majority of the perverts.

Mr. Diem,

Why can't women decide for themselves who they want to marry? If a woman wants to marry a married man, and all the parties agree, why can't she? Do you find women so weak and stupid that they can't make these decisions on their own?

Welcome to the new cult in town!
Roger,

Can you point to a religion that doesn't fall into the defintion of a cult?

Roger,

Would you say that you have a great devotion to this thought that all religions are cults based on fairytales? Are you alone, or are there others that subscribe to this intellectual movement of yours?

I concur with Roger Mr. Brent. So if I do, imagine how many others in the world do. They just have not found the forum yet.

Yes. It is called the We Hate Ourselves cult.

Someday soon we will be able to make a pilgrimage to Iraq and have our head cut off Nick Berg style.

This is the second time I can remember that you discuss having your head cut off like Nick Berg. Why?

Better to die than to have to live among LDS members of the community.

If this statement is true, then why are you still living among the LDS?

Why do you feel the need to say things like this? Why do you allow Mormons to affect you in such a way?

No need to worry. If you look closely at how Olmert and Peretz have handled things thus far, you will find that most Israeli's are not very happy with their performance, especially their leadership, planning and organization.

The Mormon splinter group is even more cultic then the original cult it broke from. This organization prevents free thinking and encourages slavery in the form of plural marriage. The cult leader is a child rapist (I am not afraid to say this) that enjoyed raping little girls. This “leader” is nothing more than a child molester.
