It is a total failing by our legislature that included in this bill wasn't a requirement for parents to have to foot a portion of the cost of education of their children actively enrolled in school by a monthly tuition assessment. Such an assessment would further lessen the property tax burden and put it on people who are using the school who may not be property owners and are paying nothing plus it gets them more thoroughly involved in their children's progress and attendance when they have to sit down every month at the dining room table and write that check for each little piglet.
This would be great if there were not parents out there struggling to pay bills. That is why public schools are free. So that the disenfranchised can have an education to better themselves. Honestly, if I could afford a monthly payment for my children I would put the in a Christian school. Not downing your views, just providing another from the other side of the fence. I am not well off but I am very much involved in the education of my children. I don't think it matters if you are rich or poor it is how you view education as to whether you are involved with your children's school.

No, since I own my own home, I wouldn't understand what it is like to rent right now. I paid $17K in income taxes last year, and 3100 in property taxes. So, I think I am a good tax paying citizen. And I have voted Democrat since I was allowed to vote. I have never seen Maury. How do you know what time it is on?
Tanya - you are the ignoramous. Save Our Home has created an incredible obstacle to our real estate market that won't ever come back until it is removed. While you gloat over your low tax payments - the value of your place is dropping like Crists rock. Save a few dollars in taxes and lose tens of thousands in value. Are you dumb or what? Until Save Our Home is scrapped - Florida will never attract another second home owner. Snowbirds are sick and tired of paying for your services. They don't have to come here - they don't have to retire here - so they are going to coastal GA or Sc or the Tenn mountains. Wake up - if we don't get the boomers to move here - this downturn is just the beginning. Without their savings - our state is in crisis mode. Take you head out of the bucket and wake up. YOU CAN'T CONTINMUE TO SCREW THE PEOPLE THAT PAY THE BILLS - DUMP SAVE OUR HOME NOW!!!!!!!!!!

So you want to see a flood of tens of thusands of Florida's elderly pensioners lose their homes to tax sales and end up totally supported by tax payers in a Medicaid "home", where you smart asses then have to pay for every aspirin, every bandaid, every "Depends", every piece of toilet paper when now they can just barely afford to hang on and live independently ? Stupid, stupid, stupid. Most of you big talkers probably aren't even property owners.
I was with you until you brought up the property thing. No, I'm not a property owner..I'm a stock, ETF, and index fund owner. How's YOUR investment doing this year?

Dear Mr Frog.
I own 3 properties and paid over 8K in property tax last year.
Kiss My $%#. There are hundreds of thousands of old people who can afford lots more than they're currently paying.
