I loved Mrs.Cathie and have been crying about her death :(. I dont thnk its fair OR funny the way she died.Her husband and her daughter have been crying and talking with us about her. I love the Ake family and I hate to see her go.

I, and I believe it accurate to say 'we'(her family and friends) certainly understand your sentiment. Cathie was killed instantly... some of her organs actually ruptured from the impact. It was kind of like having a small car dropped on her. We believe the animal was acting instinctively... Cathie walked up behind the camel and reached under its neck to get the halter. We think the animal didn't understand what was happening and mistook her for a preadator dropping to the ground in a defensive maneuver. As usual, there has been a great deal of 'here-say'. Cathie was excited about the TV interview and wanted to show the 'latest addition'. She has worked most of her life with horses... and quite honestly, knew better than to approach the camel as she did. It was just a really tragic series of events,

That is so sad. She was trying to save abused animals and one killed her. I had a camel spit on me at a county fair. I must have been about 9 or 10 years old. They are pretty bad-tempered. I was totally grossed out!
