For years, Panama City and the beach have catered to the few families that own the majority of the business. They have allowed the beaches to be trashed. They have allowed lewd behaviour. Law Enforcement has worked over time and traffic is a nightmare. Why do we keep putting up with this year after year? And now the mayor and police chief are in denial about how bad it is. Reality check, end it now.

http://www.highsnobiety.com/2013/03/14/vice-e ... The video that started it all. The mayor and police chief were not too happy with how their quotes were used out of context.

I agree with the casinos. Year round economic benefit and minimal secondary crime.

Perhaps unknown to people of Florida is Panama City has become a place to absolutely avoid in the North for people other than students.

Last week in Destin there was a similar party going on and it will be next.

No one wants to be around this mess other than the kids who have no money, are destructive and contribute zero to the community

So what can we do to end it? The excuse I heard is the beach will shut down without the revenue. So we need something to replace the drunk kids. As long as we have this image, families will not come here in the spring.

Let's face it, a kid can only spend so much on beer and burger king, families will spend much more and at least cost to taxpayers in way of extra law enforcement and medical services.

When I was in college Ft Lauderdale was the place to go. After years of destroying the place which I witnessed for3 years the community got sick of it and ran everyone out of there and they ended up in Daytona and Panama City primarily. College kids come with no money and will accept no responsibility for their actions. Total waste of time for the community.

The way to stop it is to not allow rentals to anyone under the age of 25 and it will come to an end in a year or two. However, based on the last few weeks I see even Destin becoming overun with this to an extent and the situation getting worse not better.

The Panhandle is too nice of this garbage and the stories of the Clubs in Panama City are outrageous.

We had the snowbirds before the spring breakers. I agree they need to go but and all the politicians that supports it. It's time we take our beach back

Exactly, as local residents, we should be able to enjoy the beach 365 days a year. We should not have to avoid it during spring break.

PCB tried for years and years to make the beach "the happening place" for dumb Spring Breakers. Then they finally got it, MTV and all the assorted BS that comes with it. NOW they're trying to turn it around to make it more family friendly. Why the change? Those teenage and college idiots are overwhelming, aren't they? Should have thought about that all those years ago.

PS, bringing in Jerry Springer and continuing to cater towards those moron kids keeps Spring Break going. Want to change the crowds? STOP catering to them.

It's all about special interests. Those who own motels, bars, restaurants, benefit.Everyone else pays.Police costs, traffic jams, and general inconvenience. Don't expect it to change until the breakers themselves tire of the place and find a new utopia.

HELLOOOO, spring breakers will get tired of this place when hotels and entertainment venues STOP CATERING to them. DUH! Keep bringing in concerts and that old phuk Jerry Springer and you keep having the stupid @$$ kids! Why the he11 wasn't this considered years ago when "the powers that be" begged and begged for these kids to come down here?
