The word is out that the city of BI will be repairing or replacing the floor at the Rec Center before it turns it over to the Park District. Now Alderman Mike Janko has a "friend" who can do the work and has been texting the other aldermen wanting their support for this "friend." (i.e. campaign supporter)

Well, what happened to having an open and fair bidding process for work done by the city and paid for by the tax payers? A pubic announcement should be made so all interested parties can bid. The bid should be given to the company that can give the tax payers the best value. Right now, we've got the "pigs" standing at the "feeding trough" even before this administration is seated and it doesn't look pretty. BI deserves better!

Who is the "friend?" Is it the same guy who subcontracted the recent siding on the golf course?

There is no contract, our own people are painting on their free time. The new city hall looks great, smells bad on a wet day (wrong choice for mulch) but looks great .

Now the elected MUST take action in an ethical manner and clean up their own mess.

The new mayor was absent as an alderman and mayor pro tem for 20 some years. He will be a figurehead now for the other group that has had a stranglehold on BI for years. Six of one, half dozen of another. Will anything really change for the average, unconnected citizen? Doubt it.
