The Cook County Board is no longer capable of properly managing our forest preserves; they will always be at the bottom of the list in terms of funding and upkeep. Management of these wonderful natural resources should be given over to a separate body controlling a forest preserve tax fund that could not be diverted to other uses.
I have fond memories of tobogganing at Swallow Cliffs; too bad there will not be any new ones for me or anyone else.
Cook county voters, please remove Todd Stroger at the very next opportunity.

Thanks Todd, you incompetent nepotistic fool!

Just another reason the CCFP needs to operate independently from your
shameless rule!

VOTE THIS CLOWN OUT!!!!!!!

Cant entirely blame Todd for this one. The FP District began its "slide" into its current ghetto-like state of ruin under baby daddy Poppa Stroger. And for his efforts we named a hospital after him.

I always wonder about naming a building after someone who's still alive and running a politicized patronage machine (Poppa Stroger). There was nothing wrong with the name "Cook County Hospital" but the patronage machine and Poppa's big ego wanted to do 'something to honor' the most corrupt (until his son) politician in the county. Lovely. I'll enjoy seeing Urkel Stroger looking for work after the next election.

And how much will it cost to run the "sledding" hill? The first time someone is injured, it will be the end of that, too.

Yeah, you know if you think about it, Todd should have just kept the sledding hill and named it after himself to commemorate the steady decline in credibility and intelligence of Cook County government during his tenure. And you gotta hand it to him, one wouldn't have imagined it could get much worse.

Swallow Cliffs was a fantastic treat when I was a kid. It was a great Sunday-with-Dad activity for us, as we'd go up and down all afternoon and get hot chocolate to fortify us for "just one more time, Dad!" We even have old home movie footage from one of those Sundays. I drove past the slides about two weeks ago and smiled, and wondered how much longer until they were dismantled. I'm glad the stairs and observatory will be left, and that there will be sledding there.
Doesn't mean it's not a damned shame though. There isn't enough to get us out of the house in wintertime...and there goes another one.

Oh Don't worry , it will cost $5,000 a day to run the sled hill. Stroger has some of his cousin's in mind. Even better maybe an outside contractor.

The toboggan hill didn't have a chance.

Someone in the democrat controlled county needed a job (and one the apparently pays handsomely at $50K).

Part of the operation must be liability insurance going through the roof thanks to the trial lawyers and their frivolous lawsuits.(And whom do the trial lawyers always endorse in elections? Hint: Not the GOP.

The sledding sights will go the way of the diving boards, merry-go-rounds and monkey bars until the only thing left will be lawyer resistant, foam based, virtual padded cells.

That's what it costs to hire 2 or 3 of Todd's "Friends and Family" participants.

I really, really loathe the Cook County government. Do we really have to just put up with this corrupt bunch of weazelly, incompetent political hacks? I can't think of one productive thing the Cook County government does.

Gosh I grew up in Palos and used to go there all the time. They don't look in that bad of condition. The contract must have been awarded to one of Todd's friends/family. I am so tired of the nepotism in the City of Chicago and cook county. For those that keep voting these people in?? Why??
