I saw that coming a mile away. There is very little in the way of Sales Tax generating businesses in Palos and imposing an eating place tax will drive the majority of Sales Tax generating places out of town leaving more empty store fronts. If you need groceries and you're not Polish or Middle Eastern, you are forced to shop out of town and generate Sales Tax revenues for other communities. You can go to Jewel and Fairplay in Hickory Hills or Walmart in Bridgeview. They will get the tax dollars, not us!!! And face it, of all the things we can buy, groceries will be the last thing you cut out of a budget.
