The staff at the No Spin Zone joins you in saying fix the business. Get the best people possible, hold them accountable, get them managed up or out, and get this town on track.
There are a few "keepers" in management and on the Board. Get rid of the rest, send clear signals that more games, more incompetence, more special treatment, more loafing on the job, more back room deals, more "looking the other way", more blaming others for ones own shortcomings and failings, more special favors, more special considerations, more lack of interdepartmental cooperation, more territorial disputes, more lack of willingness to change for the good of the whole, more refusal to accept constructive criticism, and more generally dumb decisions are no longer tolerated in the Village of Chicago Ridge. The place has been a "family" business for way too long. With the revenues, expenditures and attendant risks, and the size of the taxpayer base, Chicago Ridge needs professionals on ALL levels to lead into the future, working with open communication, cooperation, and as a true team. "Good ol boy land" needs to be closed permanently |

Of course I have no examples to site but still hear me roar. Grrrr

Sounds like you're running for something. Sounds like you could be refering to Cook County gov. Or was it State gov? All nice words designed for a perfect world. I keep an open mind on this forum and try to read between the lines. I know I'm not the only one.

Do you think that there are no examples to cite? Or are you just a psycho trashing your own post? Or did somebody else post this and you are now trashing them? |

There are never that many candidates in Chicago Ridge elections so maybe there could be a No Spin Zone candidate in the future. Maybe that there is not enough competition is part of the problem. Yes, It does sound like we could be referring to Cook County, or the State, but we are referring to our own little hometown. Thank your for you kind comments about my language. We do want a better world, in our little corner of the world. Generally, having high standards is a good thing. |

Its seems everytime somebody questions ANYTHING in the ridge people get offended and attack the person questioning...

GSDogg are you agreeing with the No Spin Zone? This is so exciting. You are a blog celebrity. How do you feel about accountability for public servants? |
Gay SheepDogg decided not bark about accountability of public servants. Does anyone else have an opinion? In general?

Here is a good example of a public official being held accountable. The Sun - Times is reporting today that a Chicago-area Mayor is resigning after 47 years. The article says that the Mayor of Niles is going to trial next month in federal court for taking over $400K from an insurance company in return for directing business. He is resigning to give the candidates for the next election a chance to campaign.
Just goes to show that you can't trust insurance brokers. |

Of course I agree with public servants being held accountable for their actions\inactions. How could you not? Im accountable at my job, like most of us are. However I seem to be not as "in the know" on the inner workings of CR Govt, I mean as far as the various things listed by the first poster. If you have examples please list them. Im not going against anyone, just want to be as informed as the rest of you.

There is no need to go against anyone. I think that trustess should be able to handle the management of village property and finances, take action deemed expedient or desirable for the good government of the village, oversee its management and business, the protect its property, the safety, health, comfort, and general welfare of its inhabitants, protect their property, the preserve peace and good order, the suppress vice and crime, and benefit the business community.
We need to make sure that Trustees can actually do these kinds of jobs. |
Who is more of the criminal? The mayor or the Insurance Broker? What is the crime exactly? Wire Fraud? |
Well said, almost textbook quality!! I wonder how many of our elected officials know these statements and that it is their JOB description. It seems we are too busy throwing daggers and ignoring our duties at hand. I would like to know who you are because you are my write-in candidate! |

The challenge we have folks, is that Chicago Ridge is a business, a multi-million dollar business. We are the are the owners. We have entered a time to decide how we want our business to run. Do we except sub-standard production and results or do we rid our company of the people that put our investment at risk and move on. Why do they always spend now and ask questions later. Our CEO ignored giving a liquor license to a board member that should not ever have had it. Why? Not because it was Illegal. It was just wrong. A board member accepted this license without regard to any ethics. We have a board member, who is untrained in finances, pushing for huge expansion (fire department) into a shrinking market and reduced balance sheet. We have another trustee who sells material to the village and votes to pay himself back. This is not a corporate board, this is a bunch of political pals. We have senior manager, who is very senior, who might be hanging on just to collect his insurance, that is very unwilling to manage. |

I agree, but we need to put this in action. Most people are content with life in the Ridge, and dont feel the need to be proactive. They are reactive, and wait for the hatchet to fall before they do anything. I think I am going to stop in the next village board meeting.
I also agree with sheepdog that I am not against anyone, I just want to be informed since it is my 'business'. |
I did notice that you and the GSD sound like you think alike. If you are a resident you are an owner in the village business. Millions of your dollars are getting whipped around. You seem so calm. I have talked to others that are not so calm. They are not willing to be reactive. |
Hey Chicken Little the sky is not fallin, the majority trust in the current leadership. Our town has survived the economic troubles that are hitting surrounding towns and other levels of government. Our emergency services are well equipt and ready, our roads are the first in the area to be cleaned after a snow, and our infrastructure is in very good condition. All this with reasonable taxes. |
All this talk about the village board, what about the school board?
I am a resident of CR and I do seem to agree with GSD often. I dont know if I am calm, but slandering and screaming does not solve anything. I am trying to get on the school board first, then move up to government(trustee) maybe. Last school board election I was courted by a couple of teachers to run for a seat and passed it up. This time I am ready.

So howdy doody, you want to run for public office, do you have the character and honesty to reveal your true identity here so we can connect the candidate with multitude of comments and opinions you've expressed here? |
