I love the fact that citizens tax dollars are wasted on this fest...what a joke. Who pay for all the extra police, firemen, and emt's that are needed? Wonder how many people will be stabbed this year? Can't believe they've extended this stupid thing...it was long enough already.

As ar as I know, you could find drunk people at every festival in the world. So what. It is a good time and if you don't like it just stay home. Oak Fest is a lot safer than most festivals.

I have posted this in the past, but let me reiterate, there are no tax dollars spent on OakFest. OakFest is their own 501(c)(3) organization, and they pay all the fees for police, fire, fireworks, entertainment, inspections and anything else out of the funds generated. When everything is paid, they take the remaining net profit and divide it among the volunteer groups who worked at the fest.
OakFest is celebrating their 25th year this year, and there have been very few incidents. Most people are well behaved at the fest, but of course when you bring 500,000 people together for a week, you will have some problems. Blame the idiots not the Fest.

Great have fun! Let the other fine attendees know how to recognize you. Which 80's t-shirt from your everyday attire will you be wearing?

I will probably wear a tank top, gonna be hot. Van Halen won't be appearing. I have had a few cavities. I've benn at the same job for 25 years. You? My daughter loves it. You have kids? I will let her ride the rides then go have a beer in the beer tent. You see, Jack Ass, this is my community. I live here. I pay taxes here. I have friends here. As Blast said, the money is given back to several organizations. If you don't like it, don't come. If kids intimidate you, don't come. If you don't like people.....don't come. See you at the fireworks tonight. Will you be wearing your black socks and sandlles?

Although my kids are in college I still am a huge supporter of HS sports because of the accountability but I wouldn't donate a dime to any youth sports in this town. My kids played just about ever

Oak Forest has gotten so trashy looking. I grew up on Gingerwood and it looks terrible, and has for the last 10 years. Cicero Avenue looks horribly run down.

Oak Fest is a blast, and it's something for people to look forward too. Now a days many people cannot afford vacations, so festivals like this is what they do for fun in the summer. Get off the name calling and judging and start looking at the positive things this fesitval brings. It brings the town together and creats revenue for Churches, and Youth programs. Stop judging and just enjoy life.

Don't worry about OF, try to solve your own problems in the great Tinley Park. There are empty buildings and houses in Tinley also. You still have an unsolved mass murder case. Crime is sky rocketing in TP. You have your own problems to worry about so you don't have room to judge my town.

One thing I think they should consider is charging an entry fee like Gaelic does. Might keep some of the losers out.
