The village has to go with the lowest bidder in all contracts. Unfortunately they cannot hire a Mokena firm just because they have a Mokena mailing address.

No not correct ! Professional Services are exempt from the bidding process ,and there are firms here in town that are qualified to provide the professional service !

You cannot regularly use a firm that local developers use because it's a conflict of interest. Name calling is really uncalled for.

How many developers do we have here locally ,and Yes you can hire a firm from town . That argument doesn't fly , same rules apply to both sides here !

<quoted text>Windburg lives in Mokena but is not qualified for the job she got in 2010. That job was not publicized. And since you want to dwell on the past, Tony helped run school district 159 into the ground. Years ago Fleischer voted against a sales tax increase that did nothing to hurt Mokena residents and did nothing but help Mokena finances without having to increase services. Games the same.
Saying that Tony Brouzas "helped run school district 159 into the ground" is a bald faced lie. Anyone who has a memory that extends further than their imaginatively wagging tongue knows that District 159's troubles started when the State of Illinois declared the district to be "prosperous", and severely curtailed the state aid that customarily went to the district. This forced the school district to ask for a tax rate increase that the voters have rejected twice, so far.

I guess it hasn't occurred to them that a declining school district has an impact on the value of their homes, but they won't care until they try to sell. Then they'll blame someone else, but they cannot truthfully blame it on the District 159 school board, yet.

But when the current village board says they had to put alot things on hold because the state was behind on forwarding sales tax to them and because the economy was in a downturn, you say oh no the current village board is all to blame for all of Mokenas problems and let's vote them out.

In fact, I never said any such thing, but I probably shouldn't really expect you to allow the truth to get in the way of what passes for a clever response from you.

Mokena's development has been stunted for far longer than the most recent recession has been upon us. To cite the recession as an excuse for the incumbents' standard operating procedures is as fanciful as most of the rest of what is newly minted in your head.
