Mokena mayor hired to run Blue Island's water dept.

Full story: Herald News

The hiring of Mokena Mayor Joe Werner as the new head of Blue Island's water department was not a political favor but a "financial favor" for the city, Blue Island Mayor Donald Peloquin said.

Could you imagine what condition our town would be in if it wasn't for Mayor Peloquin and the great job he is doing? He does make all the right moves!

How many political favoritism jobs have been given out by this mayor. Contact the S/A or A/G office to start an investigation. These jobs (at least the neccessary positions) should have been awarded to qualified applicants after an open application process. Let this administration know that it cannot just give out jobs to friends and brother in laws etc. An investigation of this nature may even take down the administration. Maybe even contact the feds about the political corruption that you have seen over the course of this administration. Im sure that if search warrants for records were ever issued the real scope of the problem would be more than anyone could even imagine.

Where is the great Ray Cantelo when it comes to these questions? He seems to lose his train of thought when Peloquin is around! Ray is a coward,he is a follower not a leader it would be nice if he found his voice at a city hall meeting someday?

Did we forget about the Rita/Bilotto Democratic Party of Blue Island who likes the Jobs for Votes Program.

The only thing is, they have to give the jobs to Chicagoans because in order for Bobby to win re-election he must first please the Chicago Democrats like Ald. Beale and Ald. Austin and Stroger.

Haven't you seen the goons that do security at the parks? They aren't from Blue Island.

And what about all the new employees that work at the park??? Were those jobs posted?

The Security Guard that was on duty the night of the incident had a Warrant for his arrest in another County. Did they even run background checks on these people before they were hired? It sounds a lot like the way Cook County is ran. By the way, remember during the Primary when Rita was the only elected official who was backing Todd Stroger? The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Just like Stroger, Rita is an incompetent person who has no right to represent the people of Illinois. It is no wonder the Great State of Illinois is in the position that it is in currently.

You have a very good point. But lets examine the frasor-peloquin team, they also have no business holding a elective office, now do they?

If the frasor-peloquin team is that corrupt don't you think that they would have been busted by now?

What specifically have they done that was illegal?

If the hiring of Stachulack, Werner and Mindeman are illegal don't you think that they would have been in trouble by the SA or GA office by now?

Come on now there was even a newspaper article published regarding the hiring of Werner as Head of the Water Dept. along with the amount of his salary.

Quit trying to divert attention away from the real problem in Blue Island which is the corrupt Park Board that allowed an illegal pool party that involved booze and sex on tax payer owned property that ended in death and now a lawsuit.

Not necessarily, it takes people to raise these issues with the powers that be to get them 'busted'. It seems that these communities are well intimidated.
"If the hiring of Stachulack, Werner and Mindeman are illegal don't you think that they would have been in trouble by the SA or GA office by now?"

How do you know that they are not? As an attorney with the Chicago Crime Commission, I know for a fact that these towns have been on the radar for quite some time...unfortunately there are still bigger fish to fry in Illinois. Maybe they will get the hint but I doubt it.

"Come on now there was even a newspaper article published regarding the hiring of Werner as Head of the Water Dept. along with the amount of his salary."

Once again this doesn't prove anything. There are plenty of such articles written every day that do nothing to arouse the attention of those offices. In fact, this 'form of government hiring' is very unethical and illegal: read the IL State Statutes, we hardly follow them here. And furthermore, Illinois politicians just do not get that the way business is done here is illegal..at least until they go to prison.

"Quit trying to divert attention away from the real problem in Blue Island which is the corrupt Park Board that allowed an illegal pool party that involved booze and sex on tax payer owned property that ended in death and now a lawsuit."

What about the corrupt leadership in the BI Police Dept. with multiple lawsuits that are costing us millions already for their shenanigans?
I agree that the Park Board is a REAL problem but far from the ONLY problem here in BI. I recently moved here to be closer to my wife's aging mother so she could remain in her home and have family close by to help. I am astounded at the level of stupidity we call government here. Welcome to the South Side....
