This will be a continuous series of post. We need new directions that are outside of the box. Traditional paradigms are becoming extinct. How can we position ourselves to take advantage of future trends. Can we create a sustainable community within Blue Island. I believe these answers can come from within our community. Please view the video below.

Can we use the Cal Sag in agreement with neighboring suburbs that border the river in generating independent energy for our towns?

Are we the citizens of Blue Island able to find solutions to our cities problems ourselves via our own resources.

Why do we gravitate towards negativity and the discussion of problems instead of solutions?

Isn't our city facing significant challenges that requires all of our input. Or are we looking to be led by those who have no solutions while continuing to complain.

Time to get serious Blue Island is underwater from Jawa bonds, lawsuit bonds, and give backs. Time to open the books and get a real handle on where we are.$58 million in the hole and counting.

For hiding information, facts, and signing checks, need to be charged and brought to justice.

No doubt justice needs to be served in regards to JAWA. However, has anyone viewed the video? How can we make lemonade out of lemons? Can we turn this into an opportunity to become energy independent as a city utilizing the Cal Sag River? Wouldn't this give Blue Island a new identity? Would energy subsidies available to business who want to reside in Blue Island attract new lifeblood into our town?

Blue Island has a new identity, those able are leaving now, others are planning their departure due to all of the unpaid bills allowed to go unreported and pile up. Investigation, charges and jail time is in order.

It appears we Blue Islanders are only capable of complaining and not acting in our own interest. This is typical of most of us Americans nowadays. Plenty of talk and whining, but not able to conceive of new ideas, and make them a reality. Dreaming of times past solves no problems. Complaining about problems, solves no problems. We have become comfortable in dysfunction. Not able to free ourselves. Locked in perpetual bondage.

Blue Island is drowning in immeasurable debt from previous schemes.

Understandable "Open the Books". However, I have heard no reasonable solution to resolving the debt. I believe we should look to the past and consider new ideas to guide our future. Couple of points

Green/Sustainability is the way of the future. In addition, local smaller cities will have to think a lot more locally and independent to survive. The idea presented in the video is not an end all be all. However, it is a solution that could provide revenue to the city, eliminate energy dependence city-wide(Comed), the surplus energy can be sold back to Comed or surrounding municipalities, and we can offer energy subsidies to new businesses.

There are many other ideas we should consider. However, it seems that most of us think that voicing dissatisfaction is enough.

1. Enforce the "No Parking Between 2 AM and 6 PM" ordinance.

2. Enforce the Snow Route ordinance.

3. Increase the police presence citywide, especially in the rougher areas.

4. Enforce the building codes and ensure that property upkeep is understood/complied with fully.

5. Modernize the sewer system make the necessary repairs (remember basements flood when it rains).

6. Redo the remaining streets that need to be repaved.
