John for Mayor wrote:
I think that tough times call for tough leaders and John Toscas has clearly shown that he is willing to make tough and unpopular decisions if he feels they are right.
Take for example his leadership role in opening up Medicaid to hundreds of thousands of prisoners in Illinois jails and prisons. As a member of the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority, John made a motion to endorse a plan that opened the door for jailed prisoners to collect Medicaid payments. That wasn't the most popular thing around and more than a few people objected to any plan that would let hundreds of thousands of prisoners collect taxpayer funded medicaid. But John believed in those prisoners enough to introduce the motion to approve that plan despite the cost to taxpayers and the unpopularity of opening up the wallets of Illinois' more wealthy people to the less fortunate who are behind bars.
Or how about the lifetime achievement award that John proposed giving to the judge who ignored Cook County Prosecutor Anita Alvarez pleas and declared four convicted rapists and murders innocent, overturning a verdict reached by a jury! That was a tough decision on John's part and certainly not a popular one. The family of the young woman who was brutally gang raped and murdered sure didn't like it. But John was tough enough to ignore their blather and do what he felt in his heart was the right thing.
This is the kind of leadership this Village needs. We need a man who won't let other peoples dumb ideas and stupid concerns stand in the way of advancing the changes he feels are necessary.
John's determination to take this Village in a new direction is also clearly personified in the slate he has put together. Look at his excellent selection of Gary Carr to run for trustee on his slate. Gary is not only a sworn police officer, he also sells legal services to the same folks he arrests. While critics point out that this is clearly in violation of the Universal Code of Ethics for Police Officers, Gary has the guts to ignore such criticism and bravely continue working both ends of the justice system.
Locking prisoners up and setting them free demonstrates the forward thinking we need in our leaders and demonstrates the strong and smart entrepreneurial skills that Carr will bring to Crestwood's police department.
if you think for minute that John would pick a wimp to run on his slate, think again! Gary testified against his former police chief accusing him of racism and uttering racial epitets in a sworn affidavit. That takes guts my friends! The same kind of guts Gary showed when he continued all the way to the appellate court in his own lawsuit against the Village of Willow Springs, after they dared to demote him from his position as a detective and suspend him for 3 days because he lost a stupid gas mask.
Despite having a judge write that Gary's "motives and credibility may be at issue" and losing his own court case, Gary persevered and made the village pay tens of thousands of dollars in attorney and court fees! And so by God, Gary made his point to every taxpayer in Willow Springs!
That's the kind of determination and action we should all want and expect from our leaders. And that is why I am supporting Gary Carr and John Toscas!
There are literally dozens of additional examples of the wonderful works John and his running mates have amassed and I hope to continue to bring them to light as we all work to make John Toscas and his slate the new leaders of Crest wood!
This guy John is the biggest hand job in America.

Please stop defending the guilty and ignorant and embrace John. A man of character who can bring honesty and professionalism to this town.
Tell me how i have had family members in Boolingbrook die of kin cancer, family members in Arizona die of rare kidney disease, family members in Naperville and California die of rare brain cancer and none of those people ever lived in Crestwood. How did they get the diseases?

It is unforunate but bad things happen to good people. If hundreds of people got your rare kidney disease then i would say hmmm. But they have not. Do you think say for instance you are a recovering alcoholic that may have had something to do with it.

I would bet when the lawsuits come to court all of lifestyle choices will come out such as smoking, heavy drinking will be brought forth and it will not bode well for their respective lawsuits.

Perhaps because he is faced with a slew of logistics issues that can make it virtually impossible to audit even one set of meeting minutes, let alone a short stack of documents.

Apparently, someone is working on publishing a book or a newspaper or something to address these types of issues for at least Alsip and Blue Island. I wonder if it will cover Crestwood also? This is the blog I found talking about it http://themeetingminutesindex.wordpress.com

If the Crestwood minutes look anything like what is displayed on that site...ugh!

I think your right but you have way to much RARE cancer in you family. The fact is we were lied to. If I told you I am selling you 100% ground beef but 20% is rat meat it may have got you sick or it may not have prove it.If Coke or Pepsi had done the things the vip did they would be out of business but in Crestwood you run for mayor how F.UP is that

There aren't any employees in the Boardroom you blithering idiot! There are directors. And if any company wipes out their workforce like you suggest, they will soon be wiped out themselves. No CEO in their right mind would lose all the empirical knowledge possessed by their workforce. It has never been done and you couldn't name a single SUCCESSFUL company that has ever done such an idiotic thing.
Maybe you should turn off Family Guy and pick up a Wall Street Journal once in while.
You voice the very thinking we have come to expect from the extremists we hear on lefty news channels. I suppose next you will want to march every civil servant and teacher down Cicero Avenue with dunce caps on their heads. You should save your thoughts until May Day when the rest of the lefties make fools of themselves demanding the destruction of business and government. That way you won't stand out in this blog as the biggest idiot in the town, comrade.

Everybody has an opinion. The rebates can be brought back while paying the legal fees. As for the beginning post, what it didn't mention was how Toscas was hand picked by CONVICTED Gov. George Ryan to be on the board of the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority. From what I can see, if you want more legal fees, if you want higher taxes, if you want chicago/illinois politics, if you want an investigation team instead of a village board, vote for toscas slate. Otherwise vote for the slate who has an economic plan in place to move this village forward. to make this village one of the highlights of the south suburbs, that would be the slate of Presta.

You said it all!! We have already seen Lou's economic plan, you know, allowing that cancer water to be mixed with our drinking water, disregarding the residents safety, all to save a few pennies on our water bills?!?!?! Our village has already been one of the highlights of the south suburbs because of all the media coverage with the water scandal. So if this is the kind of leadership you want, then Presta's your man....Thanks, but no thanks!

You are so mistaken! Voting for Presta and his slate ensures that the Village was continue to be run into the ground as it is now. The Democrat party of John O'Sullivan is trying to take over the whole South suburbs. That's NOT what we need. Presta is pretending that the 100 or so lawsuits are going to go away and everything is ok. This is exactly how he feels about the water contamination for over 20 years. He admits that he knew they were mixing the contaminated water!!! How can someone for for a person like this?? Now, everyone says Dino wants to win so he can make his son the police chief, raise taxes, raise fees and raise salaries. Dino is clueless!! he is in the race to let Presta win.

We need a person who is intelligent, knowledgeable about government budgets and taxes and a person who stands up for the residents of Crestwood. We need a person who stands up for what is right, not someone who sat on the Board for 20 years and never voted NO!! There is only one person that meets these criteria for Mayor, and that is John Toscas.

Jimbo Jimbo Jimbo. Any chance JT had is gone because of who he picked to run on his ticket. It is the talk of the town. Everyone now thinks if JT is not smart enough to see what a fool Carr Wreck is then he is not smart enough to run the town. You don't like Lou so Dino is the guy. By the way site your credible source where Dino stated, promised, printed or what ever that he was running to make his son chief. Please reveal the CREDIBLE SOURCE. Do any of you people read, the IEPA and the EPA both said the water wasn't harmful to drink. It had minute traces of the chemical. you would have had to drink 7 quarts a day for 70 years to get a 1/10,000th of a trace in your system. so all of you can make all the excuses you want, but the facts are there, all you have to do is comprehend them!!! Nobody was poisoned, no one is being charged for poisoning anyone, so how bout we get our facts straight before we go blabbing about how we were poisoned!!!

First let me state this . I am pissed about the water. i wanted to cash in on the lawsuits. I have lived in town for 13 1/2 years. The attorney I went to showed me several pieces of paper where both the IEPA and EPA said the water was ok and the residents were never in danger. They also said it when they were at the Biela center. My lawyer said I would need to come up with a lot of money to file lawsuits and the odds of me winning anything were very much stacked against me. I am pissed. He is not lying I read the info that my lawyer dug up and attended the town hall meeting. It was even in an article the Tribune wrote. That is why no one was or has been charged with poisoning anyone.
