. It is difficult for this voter to believe that Mr.Vargas would suddenly choose to run for Mayor for the betterment of our town and because he has some fresh news ideas - given his tenure on the city council and support of the Progressive party. He apparently has received the support of Rita - so just seems to me he would be trading one puppetmaster for another. Mr.Vargas would have to step out and define himself and his plans for our city. I just don't see that happening.

Mr.Brown also has his ties to the Progressive party and compromised his integrity with the Rec center deal.

Looking at the candidates the only one I see making any viable changes based on what's best for our community and not himself is Alan Stevo. Certainly not a favored son in BI politics but that may not be a bad thing ....

Ok let's be realistic here instead of asking the fairy godmother what is good or what is bad shall we? We are talking politics. Emotions have no place in politics. Only the idiot or the fool uses emotions in something as volatile as politics. So all feelings aside, what is there for us, the, the taxpayers of Blue Island. I'm not saying Vargas has changed his stripes or has had an epiphany. But he does have experience, education, connections and temperament to be a civic leader. He is a true son of Blue Island and he appears to really love the town. AND he has the support of the majority of the HISPANIC community & businesses. You need that to win these days in Blue Island. Without it, you are whistling into the wind. Tommy Brown is a good man & his heart is in the right place but is he mayoral material? No. Even some in the African American community will testify to that. Personally Tommy is an engaging fellow but he lacks polish and political savy. He suffers from the inability to express himself properly in a way that many common folk and business people would expect of their mayor. He also holds no sway over the Hispanic community or the businesses. And he will never get it. Alan Stevo is a pariah with many people in Blue Island. When he did partake in civic duties, it has been alleged that he caused the city to be hit with a lawsuit, costing the town money. His temperament is questionable as is his experience as a civic leader and government official. In his last campaign for an elected office here, he made an ass of himself at the last CASA organized candidate introduction. He came very close to libel and slander. His attitude to people of color in Blue Island has also been questioned and he definitely has no love of the Hispanic community and they for him.
His motives for running for Mayor are un-clear and to add to that he aligns himself with the
disgraced GOP even though he will deny it. The party of the White Anglo-Saxon racist elite. Do we need this type, running our town? He may be a gentleman on the outside, but one must question his heart and his soul. Does he have it in him to represent & work for EVERYONE in Blue Island? I have serious, serious doubts.

What we need in this Mayoral Election are five Lincoln- Douglas style debates, to bring out the truth. This will erase any doubt the voters might have in each and every candidate. This will stop the lies that are being spread, and the real issues of importance will be addressed.

Alan Stevo would not want a debate. Why? So he can repeat his ruinous behavior at the last debate? Hell No! If I were his campaign manager, that would be THE LAST thing I'd want him in. To keep him from inserting his foot into his mouth. His past performances of public oratory are lacking and dubious at best. I don't know who's worse...Tommy Brown or Alan Stevo. If I were Vargas's manager..hell I'd go for it. Just to bait Stevo into losing his temper & once more making him look totally unfit to hold office...if Tommy Brown doesn't do it to Stevo first. No, any debates would kill any chance of Stevo being Mayor.

Your candidate does not or can not see the over flowing garbage receptacles the east side of his street. Go see for yourself. He is an elected official who has done nothing for the people in his ward for how many years?(.... and dragged out 145 votes in the last election for his candidate).
Really, What issues is your candidate on speaking terms with? He does not answer his phone and never speaks up for the people.

Your 7th ward candidate does not or can not see the over flowing garbage receptacles the east side of Vinceenes Street, go see for yourself. He is an elected official, mayor pro tem who has done nothing for the people in his ward for how many years? In the last election he helped get 145 votes out for his Progressive Party Candidate in the 7th ward.

Domingo, you could not fix or make it better or try to maintain the ward. What makes you sure that you can make the city better. Are you deserving for the job, I don't think so. What is your hidden agenda?

Why are liberals so stupid? As a conservative I can say we don't hate Hispanic or black people. Policies that keep you poor and held back into a less then middle class will not help you. But again and again you follow like a lamb to the slaughter house. Reminder- Lincoln freed the slaves and he was republican / al gore's father and grandfather were very outspoken racists of the democrat party, Chicago has always been democrat, do you Think that the Dan Ryan expressway with its electrified train in the middle was put their by mistake? By republicans?

If Mr.Vargas is elected the Rita camp will make those decisions pure and simple. If I were the incoming Mayor my focus would be on 1) is the job needed ? 2.) Is the person doing the job meeting its requirements? 3) Can any jobs be consolidated ?

However in the scenario of Mr. Vargas (Rita) or Mr. Brown (Peloquin) the decisions will be purely political versus what is best for our fair community.
