Really? You think Cal Park is in better shape then Blue Island? Well you were from Cal Park, so I can see why you might be biased. Must be easy to say that, all the way from Dyer, IN. Cal Park, back in the day was a fairly nice place. Look at it now. Talk about corruption. Half the police department came from Phoenix,IL, when the new mayor took over, and hired his buddies, now the PD is almost as corrupt as Robbins. The BIPD it's even close to that. The streets in Blue Island are getting fixed all over town. So I'm not sure what you're talking about there. Yeah, the economy sucks, but it sucks everywhere. I'm not saying that the politicians are perfect, but I think it could be A LOT worse. You look at the surrounding towns... Cal park, Dixmore, Posen, Robbins, Riverdale... Blue island is still a decent place in comparison. Let me ask you this... WHAT has Bobby Rush done for this district? The only reason Bobby Rush is still in office is because of the black community he represents. He doesn't represent whites or Hispanics at all. He is a rascist criminal and it's a shame that a man like him is still around. But that just shows the type of district it has become.

I know what it's called. But when a rascist like bobby rush is voted in solely because of his skin color, something is wrong there and THAT is what is wrong with this area of Chicago and south suburbs. When a majority of the minority group doesn't work and don't care about anything but themselves, that's what happens. When I go to the store and I see a woman driving a Mercedes Benz pay for food with a LINK card, something is wrong with that. I was at Walmart the other day and saw an employee pay for food with a LINK card. It just seems like so many people get a free hand out when they don't need it. I wish Illinois has passed a law stating that if you are on welfare, you need to pass random drug tests, or you lose it. With Section 8, LINK, free cell phones, and free public transportation, there is NO incentive to work. NONE!! While the rest of us hard working individuals have to flip the bill. It's sickening! Eventually people will get fed up, or the money will run out. It will be very interesting to see how many people will bitch when the free handouts run out.

Rose B you have good points. In the final analysis of the Peloquin years, yet to be written. Attorney Alderman Vargas permitted all this to thrive, while he sat silent. He actively recruited persons who would gladly drink the Kool Aid, and join the ranks of the Rubber Stamp Brigade. Who voted aye on anything the Mayor put before them, without thought or question.

. Hah! Not any more ... Obama is a socialist and Bobby Rush couldn't spell Blue Island much lest find it and represent us!

I witnessed the busloads of "voters" come in during the last "election" and be given the orders to vote straight Democrat.

This is no longer a democracy. Before Barack's term is over the government will be running our lives ...taxes will be higher than ever ...the socialist "green" movement will infilrate all levels of society and the rights that our forefathers and vetrans fought so gallantly for will be lost.

Democracy?

The results of the Coalition/Progessive party speak for themselves - but, let's be clear ...the Democratic county played a role ...the Democratic state played a role ... The economy played a role ...and those of US that stood back and didn't get actively involved ...or run for office ... Or RE-ELECTED the Coalition/Progressive party played a role. Just look at the condition of our once thriving community and vote for candidates that are committed to serving our community and NOT themselves or their party. Is that even possible??
Thank you

The RESULTS speak volumes for themselves. If as much time, energy, and money was invested in the community as was for Lincoln Counry, Plasma Arc, Home Rule, JAWA, the golf course, campaign donations, power and pensions, to name just a few; Blue Island most likely would NOT BE in its present condition.

Running a city of any size is not a job for sissies. There are many issues to face and, although we may want to point fingers, let's not forget to include the Democratic township, County and state leadership.

They all share in the responsibility of Blue Island's demise ...and now THEY want to take over the town!

Those who retired, and those in office continue to be well fed by the residents and taxpayers, via higher taxes and fees!

Why is Jerry Vidovic still being paid? He should be in jail for embezzlement!
