I would like to say thanks to Bob Bultema for voting against the raise for Debbie Slightom..The rest of the Board are idiots for throwing money at an employee that does nothing to earn the extra pay. Except offer up others for sacrifice to get more money for herself.

The board had nothing to do with her raise.
It was a step increase.

Interesting to note that Board members spoke to the other Board members at the applicant's school. If her Board wanted to get rid of her that is the easy way to do it. Just a thought. Good luck to all at Durham.

Congratulations, Mary Sukuma, and be ready for the powerful California Teachers Association.

You must bend and bow at their every command. it is the neo socialistic fascist America where the labor runs the government, the schools and private industry.
I am wondering why the government agencies even have management anymore or how much longer there will be free enterprise, what is left of it..

"voted to eliminate the continuation school."

Of course...students who don't fit the good ol white boy image Durham so loves to protect.

So what now Durham...you might actually have to teach the kids that don't fit your "profile"...I bet you ship them to Chico and let them take care of your inability to serve your community.

This school district should have been shut down many years ago.

Good Luck Mary...get ready to kiss some a s s of the local farmers and white power high school teachers.

Are you ever satisfied? We got rid or forced out Gaskin, Arnold, Martin, Piluso. We have listened and improved. At least say thank you once in awhile.

The way that your penchant for bitchingandmoaning about everything outweighs your literacy skills is astounding to me. Did you not read that she's from Palo Cedro...8 miles from Redding? And she's a principal AND superintendent there? If you had, you wouldn't have any reason to post your Glenn Beckian craziness--which is why you deliberately ignored it so that you could whine some more. Grow up, you friggin' baby.

It would be nice, if for once people would quit b!tching and moaning before they have given the new person a chance. If it is another lousy fit, THEN we can whine, but until then let's wait and see, and be a bit more gracious.

It is the other way around teacher teacher. Your goal is to run the schools, not work at your jobs. In every district the teachers are bitchingmoaning about the admin. Same story everywhere. Teacher's creds are no good! They are not about the children, rather their own selfishness. Back in the day, there were more students per teacher, no computers or teacher's aids, or continuation buildings. The kids were smarter, better adjusted, better attitudes, and the teachers were not a bunch of whining socialist morons who don't think past what their unions and the leftist NEA dictate.

I so agree with this statement..I liked most of the kids in Mission and they will be doing Independent Study...I hope. Ev Robertson is great at helping at risk kids get through..She should get a raise!

Whichever board member you are:
Don't pat yourself on the back to ease your conscience.
Martin did not quit
Piluso quit because he saw what was coming
Arnold quit on his own
Gaskin cost us $150,000 to get rid of, that was not your money.
The district is in a shambles because you guys don't know what you are doing.

Way to avoid the content of my post. Again. You warned her about the CTA...as if she hasn't worked with the CTA for years...

Again, it was just another avenue for you to bitchandmoan without any REAL issue at hand.

Just like in Chico, the board never remembers that they actually don't get to take credit when the bad people quit instead of being replaced. Just because you make everyone so miserable a few people quit, doesn't mean you are successful.

The Durham board sounds like Chico, one smart person on a board of idiots.

Call it for what you want, but we need to have an agreement with adjacent districts not to dump poor employees on each other. We may have benefited getting rid of Piluso and Severe, but CUSD got the shaft. We got pissed off that Gaskin got dumped on us and we have to remember not to do the same to others.

Hey clueless
Name one bad thing Piluso or Severe did in Chico. Nothing, they have done a good job in Chico just as they did in Durham. It was good times here when they were in charge. They never did any of things Arnold got away with and a few teachers at the High School, which are still here.

Jesus, you're getting off topic. We're not talking brain trust here. All those guys sucked as administrators. One just had a breakdown. They're gone from Durham so let it go. The issue is that our board at least is trying to improve. We had to cut costs and are going with a k-8 principal. We all know we needed another change at the high school and we're doing that.

God, why does this always have to contentious? I work in Durham but my kids go to Chico schools. I know Steve and Rhys pretty well. Neither had much of a reputation as a principal but who in the heck cares? This is about Durham schools now! Our goal should be have the best schools. None of the people mentioned were going to do it for us. You try 'em, and then you make the change when you know they can't cut it. I agree that Durham has tried to do that and it's a good thing.

I don't believe the board is trying to change at all.
They don't listen to the public
They don't listen to the employees
They know it all.
With the exception of Bultema, they have put us in financial ruin, which in turn has lost jobs for some.
All these past administrators we talk of were decisions by the board. I hope the new person works out, but, with the history, I am scared. At least Bultema was very much involved with this hiring, and is a good judge of a person.
