This Man, Peter Raap is a known for producing and selling sick animals. This man has made hundreds of thousands of dollars breeding every breed dog imaginable to fatten up his wallet.
Why not hold him accountable? Ultimately he is the one at fault.
I read that this man and his wife take in handicapped foster children. If they could speak, what would they say? Raap is quoted as saying that they have fostered over 40 medically fragile children. An interesting fact is that he can get paid as much as $3,000 per month, per child for "Fostering " children. He had 5 at once, that is $15,000 per month. And, why so many children, isn't one enough. He is in it for the money. If he has such little regard for dogs, why would he treat helpless kids any better.

I live very close to Peter Raap on the same street. I had been hearing about the mistreatment of his dogs for months now, and I have to add my observations. Puppies have been coming and going on a daily basis for several months now right out his front door. His breeding activities have not been curtailed at all. Every time I look in the Pet section in my San Jose Mercury news, he has ads to sell Maltese hybrids for $700 each. People come in and out his door, leaving with a puppy.
Has the town of Los Gatos been bought off by Raap? This is a residential area and I resent this man using my neighborhood (Lavender Lane)to commit animal abuse right on my own street! If he is mistreating these animals on his ranch in Cottonwood, why wouldn't he also abuse them in his house. The helpless animals represent dollar signs to Raap, he has proven he has no regard for the life of these wonderful puppies. The world now knows he has no concience when it comes to animal abuse. I am so angry that he can abuse these dogs while making huge amounts of cash, and the Los Gatos authorities turn a blind eye.
If anyone has any ideas to shut down his puppy mill on Lavender Lane, please write so I can put a plan into action. If he can't run this pathetic pet shop out of his house legally, maybe then and only then, he will stop turning out all these litters.

I recently purchased a puppy from Peter Raap. Thinking that my puppies lethargy and non-responsiveness was due to the transition from breeder to new home, I later came to disover he was very sick. Thank God my puppy is alright now, after the care from an awesome vet. Peter Raap is an awful, awful person. In my ignorance, at the first sight of puppy becoming ill, I contacted Peter Raap. He reluctantly responded, pretty much blaming me for new friend's condition!! He finally agreed to view my puppy and bring medication. I was very hesistant to provide my puppy anything that he dispensed, but I was desperate. It was Easter Sunday, and the vet was closed. I gave my puppy the medication offered by Peter Raap, and he instantly vomitted. That's when I began to realize something was not right about that man. He should not be allowed any contact with children or animals for that matter! It's hard to believe he is still in business. Downright shameful!!

The best advise I can give is report Raap to the IRS. It's easy, just go online to and there is a link that you can report the man for Tax evasion. If he is operating a business out of his home and not reporting his real income to authorities he can be fined and go to jail. If you have enough personal information about the man like his address, real name, even a business licence number on your invoice you can make a report. The IRS will have to investigate your complaint. If enough people complain they are sure to dig up something financially. In order to stop a man who is abusing the system you have to use the system to prosecute him. Get him in the pocket book.

Peter Raap is selling brand new litters of puppies June 18, 2007. He is selling Maltese puppies, Maltese mixes and beagles puppies out of his house in Los Gatos.
I was going to buy a puppy from him and realized he was sleezy. I went home and googled him and discovered all the animal crimes he has committed.
I hope he gets treated the same way he is treating these poor animals.

They have a property in Morgan Hill also, although Mrs. Rapp denies it. I agree with the man about Los Gatos being bought off. Mrs. Raap does have a close personal friend in the Los Gatos police department who said that Mrs. Raap is a very nice lady to take care of all those children and that beating or shooting a dog is a perfectly acceptable way to kill a them. (17 dogs were found beaten at his Redding puppymill, Google it). It would be nice to be able to do something about all this. For sure he is not reporting all this to the IRS, no way. It is about time someone gave them a call.

Isn't this great: Rapp was convicted of failing to provide medical treatment to a dog, and animal abuse charges from 2 counties, and he is entrusted with taking care of medically fragile children.

Peter Raap is selling litter after litter of beagle puppies. Every month he is advertising new litters of Beagle puppies 10 weeks old.
Does anyone out there know where his puppy mill is, now that they have closed down his Cottonwood Ranch where he was convicted of animal abuse?
Where are these puppies being bred? Is he going against court orders and illegally still breeding there?
Any info is helpful before I contact the D.A.

I just bought beagle puppy from Peter Raap. googled him when I got home, could'nt believe what I read. I took the puppy to my vet, and he said it was happy and healthy. I paid 500 for dog and feel taken advantage of. Has anybody else got one of these puppies from this litter? Would like to know if they have had any health issues. I
have 4 little boys who are in love with the puppy.

I bought a Maltese/Shih-Tzu hybrid from Peter a couple of years ago. She's beautiful and so sweet. I suggested Peter to someone and she googled him and emailed me back telling me about all these negative reports. I am so sad to hear about the abuse of dogs. I guess we're lucky and have had no problems with our dog. So-o sad to read all these postings and I will never refer anyone to him again. I will not ever be an accomplice to putting another dime in his pocket . Please keep us all posted on any kind of charges.

I do not have proof of abuse nor have I witnessed any myself. However, I know that dog breeding in general is not good for the animals, and there is much corruption in this line of 'business'. I hope that people will consider adopting animals that are rescued and not necessarily 'pure breed'. Dogs of any mix can provide loving, faithful friends to children and adults for many years. I just hope that everyone who wishes to care for a dog takes the time and effort to investigate any breeder, and think very carefully about what they want a dog for. Is it truly needed to have a particular breed when there are so many good dogs in need of loving homes.
I hope Mr. Raap is not guilty of the crimes stated. If he is, truly he should be punished to the full extent of the law. My sense is that he is not in this for the wellfare of animals, but rather for profit, and that can be a slippery slope indeed. Perhaps a way to stop him and others like him is to place ads in the same papers he does, asking questions about his practices, or calling attention to those things he has been accused of.
Animal breeding in general, including pets sold through retail stores, needs to be more intensely investigated and reported on. Ultimately pet sales should be very strictly regulated and curtailed. There are far too many neglected and abused animals already. It will help all living creatures if we think about how they are used and traded, and take responsibility for our own role in any transactions involving the sale of animals. Thanks for reading and considering these words.

My neighboor bought a Beagle from Mr. Raap. She is 3 years old now and has been healthy the entire time. Our neighboors loved their puppy so much we decided to visit his daughter's home in Morgan Hill and we purchased a Cockalier from her. We did not know about puppy mills at that time and certainly did not know about the abuse he and his family are putting these dogs through. I love my dog, she is beautiful and has a great personality. We noticed she was always a little skiddish when new people try to pet her and wondered why, now we really wonder why it might be. Regardless, she has been healthy and happy since we purchased her. We will definetly not recommend his dogs now that we are aware of his illegal business practices.

Peter Raap is having his friend, Brenda Hill , sell his puppies out of her house in Citrus Heights. The litter for sale right now are Malti-poo's. By Valentines Day, he is bringing her a new litter of Malti-Tzu's. His puppy mill was supposed to have been shut down by the police, but he is circumventing the law and breeding them even though his license has been revoked. Even though he is doing this against the law, some breeders won't let that stop them. Peter Raap is using his cell phone number now to sell beagles out of his house in Los Gatos. Every other week in the San Jose Mercury, he has a brand new litter of beagle puppies for sale.
We are compiling several documents for the authorities, so as much information as we can get, the better.

I saw an add on Kijiji for the a litter of malitpoos for 750 from a seller name Christine Lopez. I visited the pups and they seem to be in good happy health. However, I find out she's not the breeder and she gave me the breeder's name as Peter Raap. I google his name and here I am. He is not selling this litter through Christine in Orinda from the website
I'm sad I wotn be buying a puppy from her, but glad i found out bout Peter Raap's puppy mill.
