Bank robbery suspects nabbed

“So we had names, great leads and cooperation from the public”

Authorities have two suspects in custody in connection with three recent bank robberies on Cortez Road.

After receiving help from the public, Manatee County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Pete Rampone said, investigators were able to use tips to track Michael Leroy Daker, 46, to a Palmetto hotel room Tuesday evening.

'In this instance, this is an example of what can happen when people get on the phone and call us,' Rampone said.

Some of the tips came from Daker's acquaintances, and some was second hand information. While some information did not check out, it eventually pointed investigators in the right direction. Read more
