What about rain dates? It is going to rain hard tonight. Kids missing trick or treat is almost as sad as telling them there will be no Christmas this year. For those in Allentown, go to http://www.allentownpa.org/contact.asp and ask that they please set a rain date.

First thing i looked for was rain dates. I'd like to trick or treat tonight, but 100% rain doesn't sound promising. We need rain dates. Anybody?

Yea, there are suppose to be some rather MAJOR, heavy, down pours this evening around 6 to 8pm.

Does it really matter if trick-or-treating is on 10/26 or 10/27? The point is that neither date is Halloween (10/31).

They really should set rain dates. Do they really want to add the danger of rain making it harder for drivers to see trick or treating children and the added stopping distance not to hit the kids outside tonight. If the cities care about the kids they will set rain dates.

Children will be crossing the street in heavy rain tonight, the rain will make it harder for drivers to see and stop. I did just call Allentown's recreation department and they are not setting a rain date and the lady who answered the phone did not care if the kids had to trick or treat in a downpour.

And that's as it should be, never mind that they are trick or treating on Oct. 26, why should there be a rain date? If there are concerns about crossing streets, go with the child and make SURE that they are safe. Geez, don't make others shoulder your responsibility.

Nobody is saying that someone else should "shoulder" our responsibility. Even walking with your children does not ensure that people watch while they're driving, especially in the rain. Not to mention that it's going to be a cold night and having the kids walk around in the rain is ridiculous.....there is no harm in pushing it off a day.

Maybe if we did it on Halloween like the good old days, there would be no concern about rain dates.

For bethlehem, i just call the court house and they will be making a decision by 3. They gave a number to call, but said not to call it until 4:30. It will also be broadcasted on the radio. I assume B104. I can't post the number because "Topix does not condone the posting of phone numbers, social security numbers, or other personal information into the forums." I tried!!!

Did someone stick a razor in your apple as a child or something? You seem to be very negative about Halloween.

As far as I know there is no rain date. There were kids out last night. Not alot but some. I don't think there has ever been a raindate. It rained last year too, just not as bad. Most that were out were being driven around by their parents. Not a bad idea on a messy night like last night.

You must have no children. I would be with my children at all costs as well and if you knew anything about this area you would know that a cop car skipped the curb killing a little boy in allentown not long ago. So, a parent can not change the recless way that some drive. They can only try to change things to make them safer for our children to have fun. I do not live in allentown. I am actually about 30 minuted outside allentown but I am wise enough as a mother to know that there are certain things that there should be to protect people.
Generally many children wear dark colored costumes which makes it difficult for drivers to see them as well. Your statement was heartless and ignorant.

Can I point out that Halloween is NOT the sole property of children and those who have children.
Shall we start hunting Easter eggs in July so that the little ones don't get frostbite on their fingers? Or can we perhaps expect the parents to get them some gloves.
Finally, let's not get overly dramatic here - bad drivers aren't only out on Halloween or rainy days. One has be careful when out at night - regardless of the date.

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Gemini

You're in a very erratic mood today, making you restless, edgy and nervy. It may be almost impossible to settle to anything for long, because, as Mercury slows, you soon lose interest. If life becomes boring you'll want to liven it up in some way and it's likely you'll choose the most disruptive and controversial option you can think of, even though you know this will cause trouble.
